Historical Hall is in the Northern corner of the ACT. It's only 10 kilometers out from Canberra's city Centre but still has the country village feeling. We were lucky enough to be there on the first Sunday of the month which meant it was market day. It felt like half a Canberra was there as well but the local show grounds was well set up and could handle the crowd well. There was a gold coin donation for market entry which helped a local charity. The markets were apparently one of the biggest in Australia for home made and grown items. Unfortunately with carry on luggage only we were not able to purchase anything but it was fun having a good look around.
I had never been to a small country town in Canberra. I suppose most of the Australian Capital Territory was like this before they built the Australian capital city just down the road.
The local tennis court needs a bit of work.
We had a stroll up the main street of town as well and some lunch at the Daughters @ Hall Cafe.
Some of the locals had great gardens full of flowers.
The busiest place in town after the Sunday monthly markets.
I find the old the old stuff is fascinating even though it is well before my time.
Great tasting heathy food for lunch.
This is the second Doctor Who police box I have seen on this trip.
The traditional custodian's of this area are the Ngunnawal people. Our bush Capital name of Canberra comes from there language meaning the meeting place.
