Our new Housesitting gig in Italy! A cozy house deep in the forest :)

We finally made it! After 8 tedious weeks of having the van fixed in a car workshop in Northern Germany my woman and I finally got the "your car is safe to drive" badge and left for Italy. We had found a perfect housesit for the winter which we are super stoked about - a house far away from "civilization" deep in the woods of Central Italy with a wooden stove, running water, electricity and no immediate neighbors! Win!

When we arrived yesterday it all felt a little overwhelming, a new surrounding and so many possibilities, opportunities to seize and things to make happen. But we were tired of the long travel so we opted to take it easy and rest for the night before starting anything...

But today is day 1! Before I even realized what is going on I was already observing myself collecting wood from the forest in preparation for heating the house properly. Wood abundance! Man it's glorious. The stuff is just laying around everywhere ;)

Nature provides endlessly, and we were told by the lovely host that we can collect wood, gather herbs and greens and pretty much do whatever we feel like here, as long as the house is lived in and looked after since he and his siblings don't live here anymore.

What a cosmic gift! I give thanks to life and the universe for bringing us here, and to us for saying yes to this instantly and without hesitation. If all goes well, we will live here for the next months, working on our arts and music and finally getting our hands dirty with some practical gardening, permaculture and nature occupations, taking walks, breathing in the untouched air, and listening to a few birds in the sea of silence!

We have a toolshed here with all sorts of helpful tools for gardening and pruning work. There is an old veggie garden, half forgotten but totally revivable. And we even have access to mountain water. It's pretty much all we have been looking for in a place to call our home, and while it isn't ours, we will look after it as best we can in preparation for finally finding a place of our own in the near future.

We can't wait. This is homesteading practice round number 3 or so, and I am as stoked as ever to get going and do little things here and there as they pop up as an impulse in me.

Chopping wood and carrying water... to balance the screen-time making tracks and blogging. It's been a really tedious year with many let-downs, hardships and spiritual challenge. And while I do not expect everything to go 100% smoothly here, I am feeling very optimistic and relieved that we finally have a place to rest in silence and come back to our inner center.

So if you will excuse me, I got wood to gather, beats to make and a software manual layout to finish. And to arrive here of course... it feels like a dream and though my body is here, my spirit has hardly caught up with the reality of the situation! Seemed natural to blog about it to further cement the idea that it's time for rest, relaxation and the arts, FINALLY. Thank you life!

It seems that fortune does indeed favour the bold! Deep in the woods with not a neighbour in sight sounds like just the ticket. I worked in Palermo on and off for a couple of years and am quite fond of Italians. ..if only I could understand a word they were saying.

i feel the same, although i have been... bold, and getting into their tongue gymnastics. out of all the foreign languages thus far italian is easily my favorite.

i am slowly arriving now, and i am in love with the place ahahahaha

Wishing you both a consciously peaceful time in your Italian dream.

Fabulous!

to take it easy and rest for the night before starting anything

😁

What is the brick construction in the fourth photograph? Is it a well?

yap, that is the old well, no longer functioning. the owner opted to not repair the pump and instead go for city water connection which does work but is less romantic to talk about ahahha

thanks for stopping by shani!

Happy for you guys! Enjoy your stay there and I hope you get that ax to work.

P.S. You might actually wanna try a handsaw too ( if you've got one ). That's what Clare and I mainly use around here, although it works better for branches and thin tree stems than trunks.

aye, seeing how difficult that log chunk cutting business will be with the tools at hand, i already collected branches and have used a handsaw with great enthusiasm, there are two in the toolshed. first chore tomorrow morning ahahaha

blessings!

Nice one! Enjoy the workout ;<)

dude my muscles are already sore from some stupid minor things outside.this is so much better for my body than van life. i will be buff in about a week or two ahahaha

Haha! It sure makes a difference. Also, a healthy mind in a healthy body. I really need my (physical) exercise for many reasons, including to get my creativity flowing.

Have a great day!

THAT!

i have been busy with writing a software manual but it is nearly finished and then there shall be only beats, gardening, cooking and hive.
what a life, i thought it would never happen
