Pasaje Castelli in Once - Buenos Aires: street art in the blinds of businesses. / Pasaje Castelli en Once - Buenos Aires: arte callejero en las persianas de los negocios.

Very good day to the whole community, today I show you this wonderful idea that a group of artists had, with permission from the municipality and the owners of the businesses, in painting the blinds of the shops with works of art.

Muy buen día a toda la comunidad, hoy les muestro esta maravillosa idea que tuvieron un grupo de artistas, con permiso de la municipalidad y los dueños de los negocios, en pintar las persianas de los comercios con obras de arte.

In the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, there is a neighborhood called Once that has several peculiarities: it is full of businesses of all kinds, both retail and wholesale, and it is a neighborhood where different religious ethnicities coexist, so you can see people walking on the street with robes, others with Jewish hats, Sephardim, people of African origin with colorful clothing and dark skin, etc... it is a melting pot of breeds.

En la ciudad autónoma de Buenos Aires, hay un barrio llamado Once que tiene varias particularidades: está lleno de negocios de todos los rubros, tanto minoristas como mayoristas, y es un barrio en donde conviven distintas etnias religiosas, por lo que se ven caminando en la calle personas con túnicas, otros con gorros judíos, sefaradíes, gente de origen africano con vestimenta colorida y piel oscura, etc… es un crisol de razas.

One morning when I left the parking lot on Castelli and Pueyrredón streets, I was surprised to see what the artists had achieved: the street showed works of art in the blinds of businesses. It was really a beautiful feeling, I stared at each of the blinds, I couldn't believe what the artists had achieved in one night!

I work very close to there and park the car always in the same place, so when I left the garage, I was surprised by how decorated the street was.

Una mañana cuando salí del estacionamiento de la calle Castelli y Pueyrredón, me sorprendí al ver lo que habían logrado los artistas: la calle mostraba obras de arte en las persianas de los negocios. Fue realmente una sensación hermosa, me quedé mirando cada una de las persianas, ¡no podía creer lo que los artistas habían logrado en una noche!

Yo trabajo muy cerca de ahi y estaciono el auto siempre en el mismo lugar, asi que al salir de la cochera, me sorprendió lo decorada que estaba la calle.

The first thing I thought was: how difficult it must be to do a job of that size on a surface that is not flat, because blinds have gutters! I really don't know how they do it, the precision in some of the gestures and the accuracy of the lines amaze me.

Lo primero que pensé fue: que difícil debe ser hacer un trabajo de esas dimensiones sobre una superficie que no es plana, ¡porque las persianas tienen canaletas! Realmente no sé como lo hacen, la precisión en algunos de los gestos y la exactitud de las líneas me asombran.

While it is something that can only be appreciated very early in the morning or in the afternoon, in that neighborhood it would be impossible during the day since there are many people walking, so I thought it was a good initiative to do it in the blinds: when the streets are quiet of people and businesses close, the neighborhood breathes art.

Si bien es algo que solo se puede apreciar muy temprano a la mañana o por la tarde, en ese barrio sería imposible durante el día ya que hay mucha gente caminando, así que me pareció una buena iniciativa hacerlo en las persianas: cuando las calles están tranquilas de gente y los negocios cierran, el barrio respira arte.
