Bayek earned Hotephres trust and learned of a stolen ledger that could reveal The Crocodile. To retrieve it, I traveled to Euhemeria, met Hotephres family, shared a cautious meal, and gained a child's help to locate a heavily guarded villa hiding the truth.
When I first stepped onto the boat, Hotephres was naturally defensive, thinking I had been sent to kill him. I had to quickly make it clear that I was an ally sent by Apollodorus and that we were both fighting for the same cause. Once he realized we shared a common enemy, the tension finally broke.
Hotephres asked who Bayek was and what his business was in Faiyum. Bayek stood tall and revealed his identity, explaining that he is hunting The Crocodile, along with every member of the masked group that is bleeding Egypt dry.
Hotephres said he had stolen a ledger from a Greek magistrate suspected of corruption. He believes this ledger will finally unmask the true identity of The Crocodile. For safekeeping, he gave it to his wife, Khenut, to hide.
To ensure Khenut would trust Bayek, Hotephres handed him a small doll to give to his daughter, Shadya. This was the signal that he was a friend.
I hopped into a boat and began the long row toward Euhemeria Harbor to find his family and secure that ledger.
As soon as I pulled into the harbor of Euhemeria, I knew I needed a better layout of the land. Since I hadn't unlocked any fast travel points here yet, I immediately sought out the highest point of interest. I climbed to the top and synchronized.
I finally located Khenut. She was relieved to hear word from her husband but remained cautious. She insisted that we share a meal together first, a rare moment of hospitality in such dangerous times.
After the meal, Bayek presented the doll to young Shadya, and her face lit up with joy. She immediately named her new friend Iset.
Khenut explained that their most loyal servant had hidden the ledger in their villa, which is currently occupied and heavily guarded by soldiers. Khenut asked Shadya to show me the way. I followed the girl up to a nearby rooftop, where she pointed out the estate. From that roof, I could see guards patrolling every corner.
