Uncharted 4: A Cinematic Adventure

in Gaming Photography13 days ago

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This Week's Contest theme by the Gaming Photography Community is Cinematic Shots. I take a lot of shots in my games. Sometimes I spend so much time in photo mode fiddling with all the camera settings only to revert to the default shot.

The best game that would fit this theme would be Uncharted 4. Most of the scenes from that game are cinematic masterpieces, a brilliant story told beautifully with a lot of intense action and adventure.

There will be spoilers ahead, so be warned. How cool would it be to have a sword fight inside a burning ship with the long-lost treasure of one of the most successful pirates? I didn't see it coming.

The entire game, you fight with modern weapons, but the climax throws you a sword fight? Such a cool fight scene. The treasure was lost as Nathan and his brother barely made it out alive from that burning ship, which sank.

If I take you to a few chapters before this climax, we found a room with dead bodies of many famous pirates who were betrayed by Henry Avery and his right-hand man.

This pirate utopia called Libertalia didn't work out. Turns out, pirates cannot be trusted, and they want all the treasure for themselves. That was an expensive lesson about greed and trust.

The detailed models of the setting and the gloomy lighting tell that story with just pictures.

You wanna see the pirate ship that was used to store all the stolen treasure? It was parked inside a cave. I couldn't resist but take this shot. The cave entrance turned out to be a beautiful frame for this composition.

I love to play with the in-game filters and another setting when taking a shot. Sometimes I can tend to overdo it, but at other times, I get this big urge to make it even more dramatic than it already is. Look at this shot of a person being hanged as a punishment. (Even pirates have some sense of justice system lol)

The sun rays coming from the top left were such a nice touch. Somehow, I had to make it even more dramatic xd.

The game has some beautiful landscapes too, which the game is not afraid to show. Many times, you will have a big reveal of an entire area just to put more emphasis on these remote places. Being a fan of landscape shots, I can't miss them...right?

You can't miss out on the iconic dragon head mountain (that's what I love to call it), it is constantly in the background in some form or the other and has to be one of the most iconic mountain from the entire game, heck, I would even call it the most iconic natural thing in the game. No one comes even closer.

Add some birds and muddy tires, you get a shot like this-

This next shot is funny. We humans have this tendency of finding faces in many natural objects that are not even close to a face. It is some kind of evolutionary trait, probably developed to avoid predators or something. Anyways, when I was climbing a rock with three holes, the camera zooms out and you see this huge rock.

Is it just me, or this thing resembles a 3 eyes monster? If this were in a game like Elden Ring, it would turn out to be a boss lol. I had a good chucked in that part. Hope you can see what I mean.

Drake and Elena got trapped once in the catacombs. And this shot was taken when they were both trying to swing to the nearby weapon and get out of this cage.

Uncharted 4 is such a great cinematic experience that you fall in love with it. The intense action, slow puzzle and discoveries, plot twists and story elements and an amazing world all come together in such a nice way that you end up satisfied with the whole adventure. Hope I was able to interest you in playing the game with just these shots.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

The only word I like to say is "WOW". The way you took the frames for the photos is very impressive. 😍

Sometimes I focus too much on framing my subjects lol. This game made it too easy though. Such a nice one in terms of graphics.

I should give a try this game. Such a beautiful graphics 🤯

These shots really capture the essence of Uncharted 4's cinematic feel. The lighting and composition in the pirate ship scene are so dramatic, it's like a movie still.

Yeah, love that ship shot. And because in the game, you are never sure if the treasure ship is still there or gone. It adds to that aww factor and you are like, oh sh*t, the treasure is real after all.
