Saturday Night Sounds
Right into it then. I like Music, I like a lot of artist, but there are only a few Albums that everything is a joy to listen to.
Mazzy Star's Album So Tonight That I Might See is one of them. For me it is the third Album that there is not a missed song on it. I rank it up there with Moody Blues Days of Future Passed and Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon.
Three Albums that do not miss a single beat. So first up since I am taking the time to make this post:

Second I will step way back in Time and present Moody Blues Dawn is a Feeling,
Bet your surprised I didn't pick Nights In White Satin.
And last but certainly not least in my mind is Mazzy Star's album. I found her music in the mid 90's not long after the release of her 2nd Album. The song Fade Into You was an instant hit with me, I went and bought the Album not long after hearing it.
I used to at the time of finding this album, used to like taking baths, relaxing baths, it was a process, shower, wash hair, rinse well, then start filling the tub with water. I always had enough hot water for both shower and bath. Add in the bath oil beads, and then the bubble bath stuff, light a few candles, turn all electrical devices off except my little boom box. Start the CD playing crawl int eh tub and relax, just drift into the relaxation. When the album was done, back under the shower head to rinse off, and enjoy the rest of the evening. That is probably a big part of why I do not have High Blood Pressure.
For me it is one of the very few complete albums. I like lots of songs, and lots of different music but those three Album are complete, its a pretty short list of complete albums.

Love Time bash, damn good pick. When I was a teenager it was a favourite. Granted it was in my whacky baccy phase so all of PF music was more or less amazing. Even though it was the music of my dads generation really I still loved it, and I'm knocking on 40 now. Lol. It's still great music today though. Goes to show, certain things are so damn good their timeless.
Timeless in music is getting to be a pretty rare thing for me, even if I listened to the radio it is all old stuff, nothing new. I do sometimes find new stuff on Hive now as the music groups and communities are getting a little bit of traction and not just with covers but with original songs, I look forward to more of that type happening on Hive.
It is so interesting seeing new places, but also hearing about the people holidays and events, like the Finland pussy willow and witch thing, (Easter Virpoa), I had never heard of that before, and I am sure there will be other people holidays that I have no clue about around the world that the people participating just think everyone knows about it.

I'm not so sure the Virpoa in northern Europe is a witch thing as such... don't get me wrong, I know it looks like that at a glance. Even at a good scratch. However... it's a heavy Russian Orthodox meets Karelian slant. There's a clash yet harmonization of cultures over there that's deeply complex. Same stock mixed, but different victors over time with refugees resulting throughout history. It seems great fun though, sorta like dressing up for Halloween is for American kids, or Easter Egg hunts. But not so much a witches echo in the tradition despite the kids actually saying I'm a witch... I mean in Northern European folklore the willow had some pretty icky connotations. Stronger bad than good, and long before the church.
Most herbalist would have avoided strongly outside of birthing or wound times (Salicylic acid, pain relief basically). When pain or ick was about you wanted the willow... but it linked to drowning/pain/birth a lot in those cultures so wasn't necessarily a good thing. Good bad sorta?
It does however look like it could hold roots in damaging the idea of the village wise woman or herbalist I guess..? It's an idea punted about by some. For instance the Näkki (a lot of similarities to the Turkic Ardow, a nasty critter.. a lot of northern European and Russian folkloric parallels across the board btw throughout the various mythologies) were known to hang around willows and drown kids. Part of me can't help but wander if it's because some of the bog terrain you get in those places. Easy for a little one to get sucked in and stuck if unattended. It may have roots in witches... but I think witch or magical anything wasn't a thing. In Vedic culture for instance to say you're a magician is basically to say you're a performer. The context of witch didn't arrive until the Brits did in India like the church solidifying (orthodox and catholic) through Europe and the the Soviet. Still today though... in a lot of (there's a lot btw) of lineage based Indian cultures they look for the rabbit to pop out the hat. Dunno... I guess I look for the logic in the folklore and the folklore in what we call logic sometimes?
Sorry for the long reply my friend. Been trying to track your blog as much as possible lately even if not signed in. Got into my cups tonight and figured I'd bug you with a good long response. ;) Btw what happened to all the creative writing stuff you used to promote/track/make? That still a thing on Hive nowadays, or is it all Splinterlands and cub? And before I return to my cups/in parting, have a google of Punky Night Hinton St. George. UK. It seems there's not a lot to that autumn holiday festivity at a glance but it's a strange meets fun one looking at its origins. When I was down there years ago with a group of friends metal detecting we found some neat stuff in the local archives (like village hall records over in the states, but they go back over 2 centuries) while looking for sites that had geographical abnormalities on 18th/19th century surveys. Punky night was fun stuff to read up on. Certain folkloric traditions are down right fascinating. Well I'm off. Hope you're keeping healthy up there. Again sorry for the long reply. :)
There is still a lot of active writing on Hive, I just can't stick to a topic real long, so many other areas to see and view, when I got my camera my focus changed a little bit, (you know - New toy Syndrome). I am still trying to learn to do some writing/improve my writing,but I haven't done much since end of last year, and that post got muted because the community was closed when I posted it, and it seems the rules changed for the community so the post did not fit the community any longer, such is Hive Life I guess.
I don't mind long replies or long post, I still enjoy reading, just have not done much fiction reading lately. Life goes on, as the body ages new aches new pains to ignore start up, at least where I am we have not been hit overly hard by the covid overlords. We could still go out to eat and still shop in most stores with out a mask, a few stores went full on nazi wear the mask or go away, so we went away to shop where they did not care.
Still a lot of snow, still not quite spring but getting close. I'll take a look at that
