Prokhodna Cave, "Eyes of God" Bulgaria 🇧🇬

in Drone2 months ago

Hallo Drone lovers 👋
Finally, it was the turn of the photos from the weekend we spent in Karlukuvo, and more precisely the photos from Prohodna Cave, or as it is also called the Eyes of God..In this post, we'll share some aerial photos and some taken from the ground..I hope you like it.for the title photo of the post, I chose the photo I took with the drone after we left the cave, the sun was already setting and it was a very beautiful moment

I'll add some external information to make it more interesting for people who don't know anything about it:
It is the longest cave tunnel in Bulgaria, with a length of 365 meters and a height of the vaults of 56 meters.[2] As a result of the denudation processes and the erosion caused by the seeping waters, the phenomenon of "The Windows" ("The Chimneys"), erroneously called the "Eyes of God" - two huge, almost equal-sized openings in the shape of eyes - has formed in the ceiling. Viewed both from below and from above, they very much resemble eyes that seem to stare at visitors. The impressive effect of the light entering through them is observed in the interior of the cave, naturally illuminated by the bizarre huge formations, since the difference in level between the two entrances is large, and the daylight from the outside mainly enters through the "Window".

Prohodna is a cave corridor - a spectacular rock bridge, the direction of which is oriented from east to west. It was formed at the end of the Cretaceous period 66-68 million years ago. In the past, the waters of the river Iskar filled the cave. Now the level of the river is below the level of the cave. Due to the active karst processes characteristic of this period, seismic activity and river activity, the cave karst corridor was interrupted and this part remains separated. Structurally, the cave consists mainly of light beige to white strong, massive organogenic limestones (they contain well-preserved fossils of shelly detritus, brizoa, bivalves, brachiopods, gastropods, sea urchins and ammonites - more pronounced in the western part of the geological phenomenon ). The thickness of the rock layers varies from 10 to 50 m

Here we are, coming out of the cave, it started to get cold and there was a cold wind
And this is a great bird's eye view of the village of Karlukovo
and here are the photos of a passable cave from above, here you can clearly see how they really look like eyes

I took several shots in a row from different heights as you can see

And here are the photos I took with my phone
