Visiting "Simón Bolívar" School Ship || TBT (Eng/ Esp)

Glad to greet you and happy to visit again this lovely community, this time I show you a tour that I did with my family and neighbours to "Simón Bolívar" school ship, a couple of years ago, just when the pandemic ended, and this ship could restart its guided tours to the public and visited my hometown "Cumaná". My children had not had the opportunity to see a ship so close, not even ride on one, so we were excited to go to "Sucre's Port with the neighbours who wanted to take their children too, the ship would be only a few days at the pier to receive the visit to the public, so we rented a bus and we went that Saturday, the children were very happy and excited, the only detail is that when we arrived there were so many people, and we had to wait a couple of hours to get on board.

Gusto en saludarlos y feliz de pasar nuevamente por esta hermosa comunidad, en esta oportunidad les muestro un recorrido que hice junto a mi familia y vecinos al buque escuela "Simón Bolívar", hace un par de años atras, justo cuando termino la pandemia, y esta nave pudo reiniciar sus visitas guiadas al público y visito mi ciudad de Cumaná; mis hijos no habían tenido la oportunidad de ver un buque así de cerca, ni mucho menos montarse en uno, por lo que nos animamos en ir al "Puerto de Sucre", con los vecinos que querían llevar a sus hijos también, la nave iba a estar solo unos días en el muelle para recibir la visita al público, por lo que alquilamos un transporte y nos fuimos un sabado, los niños estaban muy contentos y emocionados, el único detalle es que cuando llegamos había mucha gente, y tuvimos que esperar un par de horas para subir a la embarcación.

That afternoon the weather was very sunny, but with enough breeze that helped to placate the heat, while we waited in line we took the opportunity to take some pictures, and tour the pier, the training ship looked beautiful and imposing at sea with all its flags waving, and there was enough security and naval personnel, we took snacks and plenty of water to hydrate, so the children enjoyed without any problem while waiting.

Esa tarde el clima estaba bien soleado, pero con bastante brisa que ayudo a placar el calor, mientras esperábamos en la cola aprovechamos de tomarnos unas fotos, y recorrer el muelle, el buque escuela se veía bellísimo e imponente en el mar con todas sus banderas ondeando, y había bastante personal de seguridad y naval, llevamos chucherias y mucha agua para hidratarnos, así que los niños disfrutaron sin problema mientras esperaban.

When it was time to go up, we did it by a gangway that moved a little by the breeze that was, which honestly gave me a little scared, we had to climb in pairs, I chose to climb first with my youngest son and my husband was behind me with my oldest son, when we got up one of the cadets, helped us down from the gangway, and we began our tour with the group that went up in that round, a guide began to tell us the history of the ship, which dates from 1980, consists of 3 masts and 23 sails, which has served as a place of study and practice for cadets belonging to the Venezuelan Navy, he showed us all its spaces and names, explaining to the children what each instrument was for, while we all listened attentively, we arrived to a part of the ship where there was a big bell, which my oldest son had the joy of ringing, the tour lasted about 20 minutes, and personally I found it very fast for the time we had to wait, But I understood that due to the amount of people we were there, it should be a short tour, so when we finished going around the ship, we got off again by another gangway and went out, we grouped below to take a group photo of the children, and we went to the bus we had hired, which was already waiting for us outside.

Cuando llego el momento de subir, lo hicimos por una pasarela que se movía un poco por la brisa que había, que honestamente me dio un poco de miedo, debíamos subir de dos en dos, opte por subir primero con mi hijo menor y mi esposo estaba detrás de mí con mi hijo mayor, al llegar arriba uno de los cadetes, nos ayudó a bajar de la pasarela, y empezamos nuestro recorrido con el grupo que subió en esa ronda, un guía nos empezó a contar la historia del buque, el cual data de 1980, consta de 3 mástiles y 23 velas, el cual ha servido como lugar de estudio y practica a los cadetes pertenecientes a la Armada Venezolana, nos mostró todos sus espacios y los nombres, explicándole a los niños para qué servía cada instrumento, mientras todos escuchábamos con atención, llegamos a una parte del buque donde estaba una gran campana, la cual mi hijo mayor tuvo la dicha de tocar, el recorrido duro aproximadamente 20 minutos, y en lo personal me pareció muy rápido para el tiempo que teníamos esperando, pero entendí que por la cantidad de personas que estábamos ahí debían ser recorridos cortos, por lo que cuando terminamos de dar la vuelta al buque, nos bajamos nuevamente por otra pasarela y salimos, nos agrupamos abajo para tomar una foto grupal a los niños, y nos dirigimos hasta el autobús que habíamos contratado que ya nos estaba esperando afuera.

That tour was very good, the children had a lot of fun while they got to know the school ship, I am glad I took my children to have that wonderful experience, for now I say goodbye to you, and I am pleased to have shared these experiences with you, until a new opportunity.

Ese recorrido fue muy bueno, los niños se divirtieron bastante mientras conocieron el buque escuela, me alegro haber llevado a mis hijos a que tuvieran esa experiencia maravillosa, por ahora me despido de ustedes, y me complace de haber compartido estas vivencias con ustedes, hasta una nueva oportunidad.
