Memories of my visit to the Trevi Fountain in Rome

A warm greeting, friends of the Throwback Thursday community! This is a great space dedicated to bring back to light those memories of unforgettable moments in our lives. This is my first post in this community and I want to share with you a memory that I treasure very much, it is my visit to the Trevi Fountain, as part of my trip to Rome, Italy, about 10 years ago.

I remember when I was planning this trip to Europe, which would be my first trip outside my country; I was very excited and had many expectations of how everything was going to develop. Thank God there were no complications in the course of it.

As I already mentioned, the monument that I remember today and share with you through some photographs is the Trevi Fountain, of Baroque style, which is one of the largest monumental fountains in the eternal city of Rome. This popular monument is located at the junction of the 3 roads, in what would be the ancient aqueduct Aqua Virgo, which flowed to the baths of Agrippa. The work was designed by Italian architect Leon Battista Alberti. I arrived there with map in hand, walking several blocks from Piazza Venezia.

Upon arriving at the site I was amazed by its beauty, although it was crowded with tourists, as expected. I remember that in the central part there was the sculpture of the Ocean, by the architect Pietro Bracci, while on the sides you could see the statues of Abundance and Healthiness, designed by the famous Filippo della Valle.

In the vicinity of the Fontana you can also appreciate the sculptures of the goddess Trivia and General Agrippa, both designed by the architect Giovanni Pannini. Seeing these large-scale works of art and learning a bit of their history was for me an unparalleled experience and an honor.

Many may know that there is a tradition of throwing a few coins into the fountain and making a wish, mainly a wish to return to Rome to visit the Fountain. It is my heartfelt wish that when the situation in my country and the economic possibilities and opportunities improve, I will be able to return to this beautiful place, a monument that is visited by thousands of tourists daily for its extraordinary beauty and historical value.

Thank you for joining me here. See you soon with more unforgettable moments and experiences.

Bendiciones.

Hey Rosana ;)

You were like a little girl there, sitting in that stone :D

How cool you visited Rome and this famous fountain. Once I was in Barcelona, when I was 17 and there was a fountain (with fresh water) our guide said there was a legend who drank from that water, would go back one day. Well, I went back to Spain indeed many years later, and nothing less but to live there haha, (not Barcelona but I got the country right 😂 )
I wish you can visit Rome again ;)

Hi!

How nice that your wish came true, even if it wasn't the same city you got the country right. I'm glad you were able to make a life in Spain, which is a very diverse and culturally rich country.

I wish I could return to Rome, and also visit other European countries one day, God willing.

I'm happy to receive your visit here.
