All these photographs that I show in this post were taken in different periods of time, from more than 10 years ago, during trips I made through different states of Venezuela, and just these days I was looking at these photographs and every time I looked for them, I was reminded of what happened in those days. That is the power of photography, it allows you to open that trunk of memories and you imagine it like a movie but that it really happened, because it is not just imagination, it was something real.
I remember many of those trips, which go from the state of Carabobo, Facón, Mérida and the state of Bolívar, almost from end to end, from west to east, and I have more photographs of other states that I visited at some point, either for tourism or for work reasons. But in any case, these photographs have a mark on my memory, I still feel that spirit of travel and adventure that I used to feel a lot in those times, where each trip was very exciting and with my camera, I almost took photographs of everything I saw around me.
Just like the first photograph, I remember that it was an afternoon in the city of Coro, when I was going with my cousins to the Medanos de Coror and we saw a beautiful sunset, with a light that softened those beautiful sands and made people or animals become silhouettes, while my cousins talked to me and we contemplated that place. I think that since that moment I have not been to that city again and it has been more than 12 years, although my cousins are no longer in the country, those memories always remain.
While other photographs such as some of visits I made to the state of Mérida, a state where I was born but in reality I did not live for a long time, there is always the longing to always visit this state, as well as I often say that at some point in my life I would live in this beautiful region. It always brings back memories of its imposing mountains in all its mountain ranges, where beautiful picturesque towns are sheltered, as if they were regions. From the towns of Santo Domingo, Mucuchies, Apartaderos, from the top of Picó El Águila to the town of Tabay, where I lived my first years of life but I don't remember anything because of my young age, and because we later went to live in the state of Bolívar. I hope this year to be able to travel all those beautiful roads in the state of Mérida again.
The other photographs are a bit of all those trips, like a photographic postcard of the Angostura bridge in the state of Bolívar, other images during a visit to Isla Larga in Carabobo and a sunset in the city of Puerto Cabello in Carabobo. Without a doubt all these photographs have their own magic and power to bring back those beautiful memories during those moments that I lived in those circumstances. I am not in those places at this moment, but those postcards that bring back those memories remain in my portfolio.
All the photographs are my own.
That’s the power of photography. It helps us to preserve our memories and we live them again for a while. Your shots are always amazing, I loved the first one and the pelican’s one. Delightful!
The first photograph was one of the first I took in that style where I took advantage of the sunset to compose silhouettes. It was si.ple but beautiful, that's why I never forget this photo. Greetings and thanks for commenting.
Wow, even your memories come in photographic quality. I really admire your work on Hive, this post has so many valuable photos that I can't decide which one is my favorite, good job and thank you so much for being part of #tbt Thursdays ✌️
Hey thanks for your support and appreciation for my photographs. It's always good to share how one sees this world and how one wants to slow it down. Regards !
I see in you shots the emotion of a poet. I'm not quite sure how to put it in words but it's something really powerful. You're an artist, friend.
