What is the Worse Feeling on Earth?

When my substitute says "Its a pleasure to meet you! Would you like to have a cup of coffee?"

Standing outside the auditorium, I felt a stab in my chest.
I was staring right at the very person I should have been—my substitute. This might have as well passed for the worse feeling in life.

The night before today, I had joined this group of people who wanted to present a play before an audience to think—first— of a worthy play, and then rehearse the play. It came with a short notice, so we had put our minds to work and burn a little plenty data to see that this could have a touch of reality.

Now this is me staring right at my substitute. She was brought into the play in dire moment. I was no where to be found. Actually, when I think of it, it appears like the universe never wanted me to be present in the play.

Things—strange—happened that very morning. First, there was no water to bathe. Then my phone was off and finally, I had to beat quite a distance to get to the auditorium.

I kept staring....
My substitute was doing really great, maybe better than I would have. Just then, the words "you're not indispensable" came resonating in my head carrying a fresh wave of pain along with it.
I quickly looked away when the play was over, as they had to leave the stage. They mustn't see me (if not for anything, for the very fact that I have shame).

The truth is, no one is indispensable. No matter the field in which you are. Hence, you should strive to be good at what you do (even the very best at it) and to always turn up.

The worse feeling ever comes when you see who you should have been. I never want to have that experience again, you wouldn't want to either.
