This year as part of my New Year's resolutions I have decided to attend more cultural activities that take place in public spaces such as outdoor concerts, exhibitions, courses, lectures, and so I can nourish myself a little more of city life and leave aside my more homely personality.

The first event I was able to attend this year will probably be one of the most important artistic events of 2024 in the city of Caracas.

Meninas Art Gallery!

Thus was announced at the beginning of the year the art exhibition of 19 imposing figures with the silhouette of a French lady inspired by the 1959's Spanish painting; meninas.

Each one of these 19 statues is painted in a particular, original way, and that calls to love the characteristics of our country Venezuela. From one statue painted as Miss, in allusion to the 14 crowns of beauty contests won in Venezuela, another is inspired by baseball players recognized at the time, others are inspired by our fauna flowers, and some are inspired by natural resources.

All beautiful in their own way, the most exciting and attention-grabbing part of this art event in Caracas was that this art exhibition was designed to be accomplished as a "Quest" in which the 19 statues were distributed throughout the most emblematic places of the Chacao municipality in Caracas.

So friends, family, influencers, and even content creators gathered to go through the 19 stops, which Pokémon quest, or which collectible cards.

I am deeply glad to see how activities in public spaces that are designed for all ages, genders and status are slowly recovering the spaces of our beloved city of Caracas, which is at the foot of our beautiful Avila mountain.

The recreational impact of this gallery exhibition was so great that commercial establishments made promotions for the meninas, new flavored ice creams, key chains and merchandise allusive to the art exhibition were created.

The person responsible for these works of art was Gabriel Conde, who indicated that he received many requests for the meninas to be a permanent part of the Caracas tour, however, he explained that, as part of his artistic and creative vision everything that is fixed loses value, loses emotion, and that just like life we come to last a moment to be happy to other people along the way and then we retire, just like the meninas at this moment.

Unfortunately, I could not make the tour of the 19 points; which I would have loved to do, but nevertheless, at the request of the public, all 19 statues were gathered in the same location to give a last farewell to the inhabitants of the city of Caracas; who came en masse to say goodbye to them as a last farewell and with the promise that this will be the beginning of many more outdoor exhibitions and public contact with recreational and cultural objectives.

Of all the meninas, my favorites for their beauty and feminine representation were the orchid menina, the araguaney menina, the menina de los roques; inspired by our island of the same name, and the menina of mineral resources, since this one in particular had a medieval design that caught my attention; since it alluded to what seemed to be dragon scales, and as a good fan of Game of Thrones, you never miss the opportunity to appreciate an inspiration in dragons.

Currently the art exhibition Meninas Gallery has come to an end, leaving many photos, videos, contents and experiences of the inhabitants of Caracas who were able to visit them; the destiny of these 19 statues will be defined by an auction to be held where the resources will be destined to non-profit foundations in the municipality.

An end that seems to me romantic and altruistic for 19 ladies who left so much in such a short time to the inhabitants of Caracas.

Este año como parte de mis propósitos de año nuevo he decidido asistir a más actividades culturales que se desarrollen en los espacios públicos como conciertos al aire libre, exposiciones, cursos, charlas, y así poder nutrirme un poco más de la vida citadina y dejar de un lado mi personalidad más casera.

El primer evento el que pude asistir este año probablemente sea uno de los más importantes de todo el 2024 en cuanto al tema artístico en la ciudad de Caracas.

Así fue anunciado a principios de el año la exposición de arte conformada por 19 figuras imponentes con silueta de dama francesa inspirada en los años 1959 de la pintura española; meninas.

Cada una de estas 19 estatuas está pintada de una manera particular, original, y que llama al amor por las características de nuestro país Venezuela. Desde una menina pintada como Miss, en alusión a las 14 coronas de concursos de belleza ganadas en Venezuela, otra está inspirada en jugadores de béisbol reconocidos para el momento, otras están inspiradas en nuestras flores fauna, y algunas están inspiradas en recursos naturales.

Todas hermosas a su manera, lo más emocionante y que atrajo la atención de este evento artístico en Caracas fue que esta exposición de arte fue diseñada para ser cumplida como una "Quest" en la que las 19 estatuas estaban distribuidas por los lugares más emblemáticos de todo el municipio Chacao en Caracas.

Así se reunieron amigos, familia, influencers, e incluso creadores de contenido para recorrer las 19 paradas, cuál búsqueda de Pokémon, o cuál cartas de colección.

Me alegra en lo más profundo, ver cómo actividades en espacios públicos que están diseñadas para todas las edades, géneros y estatus van recuperando poco a poco los espacios de nuestra amada ciudad de Caracas, que está a la falda de nuestro hermoso montaña Ávila.

Fue tanto el impacto recreacional que tuvo esta exposición de galería que locales comerciales hicieron promociones por las meninas, se crearon helados de nuevos sabores, se crearon llaveros y mercancía alusiva a la exposición de arte.

El responsable a estas obras de arte fue Gabriel Conde, el cual indicó que recibió muchas solicitudes para que las meninas formarán parte permanente de lo que es el recorrido de Caracas, sin embargo, explicó que, como parte de su visión artística y creativa todo lo que está fijo pierde valor, pierde emoción, y que así como la vida llegamos para durar un momento a ser felices a otras personas en el camino y luego nos retiramos, tal cual como las meninas en este momento.

Lamentablemente, no pude realizar el recorrido de los 19 puntos; cosa que me hubiese encantado, más sin embargo, a petición del público fueron reunidas todas las 19 estatuas en una misma locación para darle un último adiós a los habitantes de la ciudad de Caracas; quiénes acudieron en masa a despedirlas como un último adiós y con la promesa de que este será el inicio de muchas más exposiciones al aire libre y al contacto del público con objetivos recreativos y culturales.

De todas las meninas, mis favoritas por su belleza y representación femenina fueron la menina de orquídea, la menina de araguaney, la menina de los roques; inspirada en nuestra isla del mismo nombre, y la menina de recursos minerales, ya que esta en particular tenía un diseño medieval que me llamó mucho la atención; ya que hacía bastante alusión a lo que pareciera ser escamas de dragón, y como buena fanática de Game of Thrones, nunca pierdes la oportunidad para apreciar una inspiración en los dragones.

Actualmente la exposición de arte Meninas Gallery ha llegado a su fin, dejando muchas fotos, videos, contenidos y vivencias de los habitantes de Caracas que pudieron visitarlas; el destino de estas 19 estatuas, será definido por una subasta que se realizará donde los recursos serán destinados a fundaciones sin fines de lucro en el municipio.

Un final que a mí me parece romántico y altruista para 19 damas que dejaron tanto en tan poco tiempo a los habitantes de Caracas.
