Hello world!
So I realize a lot of people don't know what I look like... My profile image shows me wearing a scarf over my face, and that is not because of covid! If you must know I did not really believe masks actually work for stopping airborn viruses.
What I wear on my face is to limit the amount of dust I breath in from running around at Burning Man. If you don't know what it is, it's a little festival we used to go to every year for almost a whole decade, in a desert about 3 hours north of Reno, Nevada. Click on the link above, you'll find some cool art to look at.
I met my wife at Burning Man, it was my second year and pretty much right after the burn we went to Thailand for a couple months together.... on a shoe string! Neither of us had very much money at the time but we had a blast!
And it turned out to be a great test of the love we had for one another. I always say that it was intentional, when we bring up that trip, but in reality it was because traveling is my natural way. And she wanted to travel the world, so she ended up in good hands I would say! Even though we have taken a break from these bigger trips we still love to explore new things together and now there's a 10 year old human to share that love with!
That being said tho, traveling like that for months at a time will bring out the best and the worst in a couple... so if you can make it through that roller coaster then it's pretty safe to assume you'll be great for the rest of your lives together.
Ok so we got some land outside of New York Cist now, and we dream of building a place for travelers to come through that reminds us of all the fun hostels we've seen around the world. To turn this place into an artist haven and a community where people can live a little off the land but also be self reliant while having this tight knit community to fall back on whenever mutual help is needed.
It's a sort of neo-tribal village: Something a bit like the 60's commune idea, but on a much more individualized format. There really would only be a few families living on the land, in their own homes. I sometimes call it a multi-family homestead with anarchist tendencies!
Well that dream is still ongoing, we're not living on the property because we needed more creature comforts, but the plan is still to build a home there over the next few years. In the mean time we're slowly building infrastructure... Water, electricity, community buildings, gardens, things like that
If you haven't clicked on those links up there, you still haven't seen what I look like so here it is, a photo of me when I got this truck as a gift!! All it needed was a real axle which ended up costing me almost $2000, not bad for a beast of a truck (it can also run on vegetable oil by the way).
Ok, time to go, I have a busy day today... I am going to estimate a job for my new handyman business, wish me luck!
