Primeras practicas importantes del semestre - Arrancamos fuerte. // First important practice of the semester - We are off to a strong start.

Ahora es momento de las practicas y es que la verdad ahora veo la importancia de prestar atención en clases y entender los conceptos 😂, en este caso Fisiología Vegetal es la rama principal de todas las materias que tengo por ver en mi carrera y formación profesional. Ahora entiendo como enlaza esta materia con otras como riego, ecología, en una parte cultivos y otras mas, es que básicamente los procesos fisiológicos que ocurren en las plantas lo tenemos que tener en claro desde ahora en adelante y como funciona cada concepto por ejemplo potenciales hídricos.
Así que ahora comienza lo bueno y difícil del semestre, preparándome para lo que esta por venir.

Now it's time for practice and the truth is that now I see the importance of paying attention in class and understand the concepts 😂, in this case Plant Physiology is the main branch of all the subjects that I have to see in my career and professional training. Now I understand how to link this subject with others such as irrigation, ecology, in one part crops and others more, is that basically the physiological processes that occur in plants we have to be clear from now on and how each concept works for example water potentials.
So now begins the good and difficult part of the semester, preparing myself for what is to come.

El experimento de la papa, consistía en cortar cilindros de papas para sumergirlos en soluciones salinas y soluciones con sacarosa (agua con azúcar), pero en cierto % de concentración, esto para ver si los trozos ganaban o perdían peso.
¿Y a que se debe eso?, pues que en un medio distinto el agua puede entrar o salir del tejido dependiendo de la concentración de solutos en este caso sal o azúcar.
En el caso de la sal, si la concentración de solutos en la papa es mayor que en la solución salina el agua entraría al tejido, y si el caso era contrario y la concentración era mayor en la solución, el agua del tejido saldría y perdería peso.

The potato experiment consisted of cutting potato cylinders and immersing them in saline solutions and sucrose solutions (water with sugar), but at a certain concentration, to see if the pieces gained or lost weight.
The reason for this is that in a different medium, water can enter or leave the tissue depending on the concentration of solutes, in this case salt or sugar.
In the case of salt, if the concentration of solutes in the potato was higher than in the saline solution, the water would enter the tissue, and if the opposite was the case and the concentration was higher in the solution, the water would leave the tissue and lose weight.

De esta manera vemos y determinamos como es el movimiento del agua en las plantas, ya que por potencial se mueve de menor a mayor. De esta forma es que las plantas absorben agua, por que en sus procesos fisiológicos y dentro de ellas ocurre transpiración por ejemplo y se crean estos potenciales que hacen que succionen agua básicamente.

In this way we can see and determine how the water moves in the plants, since by potential it moves from lower to higher. This is how plants absorb water, because in their physiological processes and within them transpiration occurs, for example, and these potentials are created, which basically make them suck water.

El experimento tomo 2 días, y esto para poder ver los cambios en el tejido y en otro caso para poder determinar su peso final, con esto debemos redactar nuestro informe y plasmar los cambios que observamos. En un segundo experimento vimos como ocurría mayor transpiración de agua en un envase con tapa, pero con huecos y un envase completamente al descubierto y un tercero con una capa de aceite sobre el agua pero con una hoja donde sumergimos el peciolo.
¿Cuál creen que tuvo menor transpiración?
El que tenia la cubierta de aceite, pero lo interesante es el por que.

The experiment took 2 days, in order to be able to see the changes in the tissue and in another case to be able to determine its final weight, with this we must write our report and capture the changes that we observed. In a second experiment we saw how greater water transpiration occurred in a container with a lid, but with holes and a completely uncovered container and a third with a layer of oil on the water but with a leaf where we submerged the petiole.
Which one do you think had less transpiration?
The one with the oil coating, but the interesting thing is why.

Con un poco de azul de metileno en cada solución determinamos el tipo de medio de cada cilindro y esto era viendo si la gota de solución subía o bajaba en otros cilindros.

With a little methylene blue in each solution we determined the type of medium in each cylinder and this was by seeing if the drop of solution went up or down in other cylinders.

En química agrícola aprendimos el proceso para determinar el porcentaje de fertilizante en una mezcla dependiendo del compuesto, sea nítrico, amoniacal, ureico. Como se separaban, como ocurre el proceso y que destilado obtenemos, con esto determinamos también la calidad de un abono y si es realmente lo que la etiqueta marcada nos indica, ya que hay veces que los fertilizantes no traen el porcentaje que declaran en las etiquetas.

In agricultural chemistry we learnt the process to determine the percentage of fertiliser in a mixture depending on the compound, be it nitric, ammoniacal or ureic. How they are separated, how the process occurs and what distillate we obtain, with this we also determine the quality of a fertiliser and if it is really what the label indicates, as there are times when fertilisers do not have the percentage stated on the labels.

Y no menos importante ayer nos fuimos de practica de campo, yo fui de invitado pues ya aprobé la materia y el profesor solo tuvo la cortesía de llevarnos. Los estudiantes de Botánica Sistemática deben realizar un herbario y deben recolectar muestras silvestres para determinar su familia según las características que ellos observen, el profesor también esta haciendo esto para un trabajo de grado y con ayuda de mis compañeros deben prensar las muestras y caracterizarlas, estos trabajos se hacen en los bosques ribereños o sotobosques de la zona.
Yo solo fui a caminar con ellos y ayudarlos en cosas sencillas, pues la botánica no es lo mío, pero fue un increíble viaje la verdad, una caminata e 4h de ida y casi 3h de regreso.

And not least yesterday we went on a field practice, I was invited as I have already passed the subject and the teacher only had the courtesy to take us. The Systematic Botany students have to make a herbarium and collect wild samples to determine their family according to the characteristics they observe, the teacher is also doing this for a degree project and with the help of my classmates they have to press the samples and characterize them, this work is done in the riparian forests or undergrowth in the area.
I only went to walk with them and help them with simple things, because botany is not my thing, but it was an incredible trip, a 4 hour walk there and almost 3 hours back.

Y para entomología, montaje de insectos, pero mas que todo control químico y biológico, trampas para los adultos y mezclas química adecuadas para el control, así como los tipos de insecticidas existentes.
Esto mas a fondo será mas increíble.

And for entomology, insect mounting, but mostly chemical and biological control, traps for adults and chemical mixtures suitable for control, as well as the types of insecticides available.
This will be more in depth in more detail.

Arrancamos fuerte el semestre y tengo altas expectativas y un poco de miedo de lo que esta por venir pero vamos con las mejores energías.
