Desde chico me ha llamado poderosamente la atención el deporte. No sé realmente si tenga que ver con la genética o más bien con la crianza que se imparte dentro de casa, quizás es una mezcla de ambas. Lo cierto es que a mi padre le encantaban todos los deportes. Estaba en todos los eventos deportivos de la ciudad, recuerdo que entrabamos a todos con algo de influencia por ser bastante conocidos dentro del ámbito.

Ever since I was a child I have been powerfully attracted to sports. I do not really know if it has to do with genetics or rather with the upbringing that is imparted at home, perhaps it is a mixture of both. The truth is that my father loved all sports. He was at all the sporting events in the city, I remember that we entered all of them with some influence because we were quite well known in the field.

Ahora que tengo a mi hijo Jeremías conmigo, siempre soy testigo de su vocación hacia las actividades físicas. Cada vez que tenemos oportunidad, estamos en una cancha jugando, basquetbol, fútbol, béisbol o cualquier actividad que este de turno en el día. Lo cierto es que disfruta tanto como yo el practicar deporte.

Now that I have my son Jeremiah with me, I always witness his vocation towards physical activities. Whenever we have the opportunity, we are on a court playing basketball, soccer, baseball or whatever activity is on during the day. The truth is that he enjoys playing sports as much as I do.

Por tanto, cuando vemos cualquier reunión donde haya personas y una pelota o un balón, ahí vamos a estar cerca esperando alguna invitación y, si no llega a tiempo, pues nos involucramos con facilidad. Pero no somos de dejar pasar oportunidades. En esta ocasión una familia extensa estaba con un balón pequeño divirtiéndose. Así que esperamos un tiempo prudente y, en menos de lo que canta un gallo, ya estábamos en medio de la cancha en busca de anotar un gol.

Therefore, when we see any meeting where there are people and a ball or a ball, we will be there waiting for an invitation and, if it doesn't arrive on time, we get involved easily. But we are not ones to let opportunities pass us by. On this occasion an extended family was with a small ball having fun. So we waited for a while and, in no time at all, we were in the middle of the field looking to score a goal.

También nos dio tiempo de ir a visitar la fuente del parque que está sincronizada con un sonido musical que sale de una base de control y que promueve los sonidos autóctonos del país. Fue bastante divertido porque nos sentamos al lado de una familia y fue fácil deducir que la fuente funcionaba solo cuando la música sonaba. Se lo hicimos saber a esa familia y quedaron bastante sorprendidos con la conclusión.

We also had time to visit the fountain in the park which is synchronized to a musical sound coming from a control base that promotes the native sounds of the country. It was quite funny because we sat next to a family and it was easy to deduce that the fountain worked only when the music was playing. We let that family know and they were quite surprised with the conclusion.

Este parque está en medio de la ciudad, en tiempo de la colonia se ubicaba en las afueras, pero el crecimiento exponencial de la población ha permitido que ahora esté ubicado en pleno centro y con total acceso para todos, las familias se acercan desde los diferentes puntos cardinales y ahora que cuenta con grandes arreglos y la mejor restauración de mucho tiempo, entonces es un destino turístico muy atractivo y más si se ubica a escasos metros del terminal de pasajeros de la ciudad de Barquisimeto.

This park is in the middle of the city, in colonial times it was located in the outskirts, but the exponential growth of the population has allowed that now it is located in the center and with total access for all, families come from different cardinal points and now that it has great arrangements and the best restoration in a long time, then it is a very attractive tourist destination and more if it is located a few meters from the passenger terminal of the city of Barquisimeto.

Entre las cosas que se pueden señalar como amenaza, según mi opinión, es el uso de grama en la mayoría de su terreno. Sabiendo que estamos ubicados en un clima bastante tropical con tendencia a un clima árido, por lo que este arbusto que siempre es tomado para adornar la mayoría de los sitios de este estilo no se da de forma natural en nuestra ciudad, por lo que amerita para su mantenimiento grandes cantidades de agua y que no está en congruencia con los últimos llamados que se han hecho para preservar el vital líquido por los cambios climáticos y la sequía extrema que se ha instaurado más de lo esperado en nuestro país.

Among the things that can be pointed out as a threat, in my opinion, is the use of grass in most of its terrain. Knowing that we are located in a fairly tropical climate with a tendency to an arid climate, so this shrub that is always taken to decorate most of the sites of this style does not occur naturally in our city, so it deserves for its maintenance large amounts of water and that is not in congruence with the latest calls that have been made to preserve the vital liquid by climate change and extreme drought that has been established more than expected in our country.

Mientras tanto, solo resta disfrutar del maravilloso verde del parque, su majestuosidad desde que les da la bienvenida a todos los visitantes. El regalo más preciado al entregar oxígeno puro que promueve la vida de los seres vivos, la oportunidad de disfrutar de una fauna protegida que interactúa en ocasiones con algunos elegidos. La tranquilidad que se puede conectar al estar en estos parajes es indescriptible. Pero lo importante es que poderos ir con frecuencia para conectarla, disfrutarla y hacerla nuestra cada vez que el tiempo lo permita.

In the meantime, it only remains to enjoy the wonderful green of the park, its majesty since it welcomes all visitors. The most precious gift to deliver pure oxygen that promotes the life of living beings, the opportunity to enjoy a protected fauna that interacts sometimes with some chosen ones. The tranquility that can be connected to be in these places is indescribable. But the important thing is to be able to go frequently to connect with it, enjoy it and make it ours whenever time permits.
