Living with three cats is quite an undertaking! 🐱🐱/ ¡Vivir con tres gatos es todo un reto! 🐱🐱

Here I am again, finally participating in Caturday. As a good cat lover, I occasionally write about my furry "children." Today I'm talking about living with three cats (I used to have four, but unfortunately, Chicca, our oldest cat, passed away). Living with so many cats requires a lot of love, but also a lot of commitment. Although cats are naturally quite independent and autonomous, having three cats is still a lot of work. Of course, they need to be fed, and each has its own needs. We often get urinary kibble or kibble for stuvite, because unfortunately, two of our cats have urinary problems, and it's obviously quite an expense, especially for medical-grade kibble. Then, we have to pay attention to their well-being, hydration, fur which, if damaged, requires visits or specific products, check their ears every now and then and keep them away from fleas and ticks (ours are now indoors but when they were outside we always had to give them flea shots, we didn't trust the collar which can get stuck in branches or gates).

Aquí estoy de nuevo, participando finalmente en el Caturday. Como buena amante de los gatos, de vez en cuando escribo sobre mis peludos "hijos". Hoy les cuento sobre vivir con tres gatos (antes tenía cuatro, pero lamentablemente Chicca, nuestra gata mayor, falleció). Vivir con tantos gatos requiere mucho amor, pero también mucho compromiso. Aunque los gatos son naturalmente bastante independientes y autónomos, tener tres gatos sigue siendo mucho trabajo. Por supuesto, hay que alimentarlos, y cada uno tiene sus propias necesidades. A menudo les compramos pienso para problemas urinarios o pienso para la incontinencia felina, porque, por desgracia, dos de nuestros gatos tienen problemas urinarios, y obviamente es un gasto considerable, sobre todo para pienso de grado médico. Además, tenemos que estar atentos a su bienestar, hidratación, pelaje que, si está dañado, requiere visitas al veterinario o productos específicos, revisarles las orejas de vez en cuando y mantenerlos alejados de pulgas y garrapatas (los nuestros ahora están dentro de casa, pero cuando estaban fuera siempre teníamos que ponerles vacunas antipulgas, no nos fiábamos del collar que se puede enganchar en ramas o puertas).

Then, of course, if they're indoor cats (we're too close to the street, so we prefer not to let them out and keep them safe), to keep them from getting lazy or stressed, they need to have space to play, scratching posts, shelves (especially vertical ones), toys, ladders, and other entertainment options to keep them active. And, of course, we, the owners, play with them too! Last but not least, there's space for their needs. You need to find a suitable litter box (some use pellets or synthetics, but we try various types) and the right number of litter boxes. If there are three cats, it's best to have at least three, preferably four, and change them often. In any case, beyond their commitments, cats bring so much: affection, love, joy, fun, and so many funny stories to tell! Cats are truly amazing!

Luego, por supuesto, si son gatos de interior (estamos demasiado cerca de la calle, así que preferimos no dejarlos salir y mantenerlos seguros), para evitar que se vuelvan perezosos o estresados, necesitan espacio para jugar, rascadores, estantes (especialmente verticales), juguetes, escaleras y otras opciones de entretenimiento para mantenerlos activos. ¡Y, por supuesto, nosotros, los dueños, también jugamos con ellos! Por último, pero no menos importante, está el espacio para sus necesidades. Necesitas encontrar una caja de arena adecuada (algunos usan pellets o sintéticos, pero nosotros probamos varios tipos) y la cantidad correcta de cajas de arena. Si hay tres gatos, lo mejor es tener al menos tres, preferiblemente cuatro, y cambiarlas con frecuencia. En cualquier caso, más allá de sus compromisos, los gatos aportan mucho: cariño, amor, alegría, diversión, ¡y tantas historias divertidas que contar! ¡Los gatos son realmente increíbles!
