These beers, savored over the course of an evening accompanied by laughter, conversation and the occasional clink of billiard balls, added a new depth to my journey. They reminded me that it is in the diversity of experiences and openness to new things that the world is truly experienced and appreciated.

Belgium so close and in South East Asia - Koh Samui, Thailand.

During my exciting Thailand vacation last year, which took me through the diverse landscapes and rich culture of this fascinating country, I spent an unforgettable part of my trip on the picturesque island of Koh Samui. Known for its warm hospitality and lively streets, Thailand offered a new discovery at every turn, and the same was true of its culinary delights - especially the beer. Leo, Singha and the well-known Chang beer were faithful companions on my trip. These pilsners, with their refreshing and distinctive taste, were a real delight, but the explorer in me yearned for yet unknown taste experiences.

The arrival on Koh Samui marked a turning point in my search for beer. No sooner had we dropped our luggage off at our accommodation than we were drawn to the bustling street next door, driven by curiosity and a desire to explore. The lively atmosphere, the babble of people's voices and the tempting aromas of street food provided the perfect backdrop for our evening out. Miraculously, we stumbled upon a small bar that stood out from the rest. What caught my attention was not only the lively activity there, but the fact that Belgian beer was being advertised. Finding Belgian beer in Thailand was like a treasure hunt that had unexpectedly reached its destination. I enthusiastically pointed this out to my brother @rivalzzz, full of anticipation for what was to come, not forgetting the pool table to top it all off.

After acclimatizing with a first Singha, a ritual that welcomed us into the warm, inviting atmosphere of the bar, my curiosity wouldn't let me stay in my seat any longer. I approached the bar owner, driven by the desire to explore the diversity of his Belgian beer range. With an invitation that was as warm as the Thai sun, he led me behind the bar. There, a world of exquisite Belgian beers opened up to me - a palette of tastes and aromas that challenged my senses and broadened my horizons. I selected three different varieties, each with its own story and unique character.

As I found myself behind the counter at the cozy bar on Koh Samui, surrounded by an impressive collection of Belgian beers, my choice fell on three particular varieties that stood out not only for their taste, but also for their rich history and unique presentation. These beers - Bosteels Pauwel Kwak, Duvel and La Corne Triple - offered me an exquisite tasting experience, enhanced by the special glasses served with each beer. This evening's entertainment, along with the entertaining bar dog Jimmy, made the experience unforgettable.

Bosteels Pauwel Kwak

Pauwel Kwak is a Belgian amber beer named after its inventor, an innkeeper called Pauwel Kwak. This beer is brewed with a unique blend of ingredients, including local water, barley malt, sugar, hops and a secret spice that gives it a rich aroma and distinctive flavor. With an alcohol content of around 8.4%, it is both strong and refreshing. However, the real specialty of Pauwel Kwak lies in its unique glass. The glass is served in a wooden stand that allows the beer to be drunk without spilling. This traditional method of presentation dates back to the days when coachmen wanted to enjoy their beer without dismounting.

La Corne Triple

La Corne Triple, with its unmistakable horn-shaped glass reminiscent of the horns of the legend of La Corne du Bois des Pendus, is a tribute to the history and myths of the Ardennes. This triple beer is characterized by an alcohol content of 10% and seduces with a complex blend of sweet and spicy aromas. The taste is rich and multi-layered, with notes of fruit, spices and a light malty background that leads to a pleasantly warm finish. The horn glass in which La Corne Triple is served is not only eye-catching, but also encourages the aromas to develop and offers a unique drinking experience.

Duvel

Duvel is another masterpiece of Belgian brewing, known for its clear, golden yellow appearance and rich white head. With an alcohol content of 8.5 %, it is a strong but finely balanced beer that gets its unique complexity and characteristic taste from a double fermentation - once in barrels and once in bottles. The aromas are a blend of fruity notes reminiscent of citrus, with a slight hint of bitterness on the finish. Duvel is served in a specially shaped glass, which helps to perfectly preserve its aroma and carbonation, making the drinking experience even more intense.

Siam Restaurant Belgian Beer

My visit to Siam Restaurant Belgian Beer on the island of Koh Samui was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to the island. The opportunity to enjoy authentic Belgian beer amidst the tropical beauty of Thailand was an experience I won't soon forget. The selection and quality of the beers, coupled with the unique atmosphere of the bar, left a lasting impression on me. So one thing is certain: if I am ever in the north of Koh Samui again, I will never miss an opportunity to stop by the Siam Restaurant Belgian Beer again. There are still so many varieties of Belgian beer there that I want to try. The anticipation of further taste discoveries in this bar is already motivating me to plan my next trip to Koh Samui.
