Hello, beer lovers! I hope y'all doing well.
So, this is my first post here about the holy liquid so there's nothing better than starting reviewing this delicious beer that every Brazilian has already drank it at least once, it's called "Caracu", the first stout of Brazil.

Entonces, esta es mi primera publicación aquí sobre el líquido sagrado, así que nada mejor que comenzar a reseñar esta deliciosa cerveza que todo brasileño ya ha bebido al menos una vez, se llama "Caracu", la primera stout de Brasil.
Released in 1899 and set up in the interior of São Paulo state – relatively close to where I live – Caracu wasn't only the first stout beer factory in Brazil, but also the first in all Latin America. Its name comes from a breed of bulls, so the can design also means that the beer is as strong as a bull – well, the beer has everything to do with the can indeed. It's a popular traditional brand that you can easily find anywhere for a low price – this can was about $4 BRL ($0.82 USD approximately).
Lanzada en 1899 e instalada en el interior del estado de São Paulo – relativamente cerca de donde vivo – Caracu no solo fue la primera fábrica de cerveza stout de Brasil, sino también la primera de toda América Latina. Su nombre proviene de una raza de toros, así que el diseño de la lata también significa que la cerveza es tan fuerte como un toro – bueno, realmente, la cerveza tiene mucho que ver con la lata. Es una marca popular y tradicional que puedes encontrar fácilmente en cualquier lugar por un precio bajo – esta lata costó alrededor de $4 BRL ($0.82 USD aproximadamente).
Actually, Caracu is a sweet stout ale with a percentage of 5,4% ABV, full-bodied for the style, it has medium to low carbonation, low bitterness (22 IBU according to the can) and the creamy caramel colored foam that forms on the glass top is kind of persistent – it lasted long enough until I've drunk half of it.
It has a pleasant aroma of roasted malt, coffee and slight caramel hints – the same goes with its taste, although the sweetness from the caramel coloring stands out. In the first sips Caracu does justice to its type, however it gets weaker as it comes to the end, tasting like watered-down coffee in the last gulps. Its aftertaste is sweet and a little bit smoky, it lasts quite long. Medium drinkability for those who love sweets – like me – but if you don't like them so much, I'd say it's just medium-low drinkability, due to the sweetness and the loss of the strong flavor, typical of stouts.
En realidad, Caracu es un sweet stout ale con un porcentaje de 5,4% ABV, corpulento para el estilo, tiene carbonatación media a baja, amargor bajo (22 IBU según la lata) y la espuma cremosa de color caramelo que se forma en la parte superior del vaso es un poco persistente – duró lo suficiente hasta que me bebí la mitad.
Tiene un agradable aroma a malta tostada, café y ligeros toques acaramelados – lo mismo ocurre con su sabor, aunque el dulzor del colorante acaramelado se destaca. En los primeros sorbos, Caracu hace justicia a su tipo, sin embargo, se debilita a medida que llega al final, con un sabor a café aguado en los últimos tragos. Su retrogusto es dulce y un poco ahumado, se prolonga bastante. Drinkability medio para los amantes de los dulces – como yo – pero si no te gustan tanto, diría que el drinkability es medio-bajo, debido a la dulzura y la pérdida del sabor fuerte, típico de las stouts.
Caracu is a beer brand that makes me remind of my grandparents' house – everytime I went there, there was at least one in the fridge. Back in time, I know my grandparents used to blend Caracu, a raw duck egg and sweet condensed milk and gave that to the kids because they believed the beer was a sort of medicine or a nutritious tonic – lucky me I didn't have to drink this crap, eww. If I had to, maybe I wouldn't drink the actual beer in the future due to trauma, haha.
Caracu es una marca de cerveza que me recuerda a la casa de mis abuelos – cada vez que iba, había al menos una en la heladera. En el pasado, sé que mis abuelos solían mezclar Caracu, un huevo de pata crudo y leche condensada, y se lo daban a los niños porque creían que la cerveza era una especie de medicina o un tónico nutritivo – por suerte no tuve que beber esta basura, eww. Si tuviera que hacerlo, tal vez no la bebería la cerveza real en el futuro debido a un trauma, jaja.
