We come to Mary so she may intercede for all of our prayers. We believe that once she asks her son Jesus, it will be given right away, the same as His first miracle at the wedding of Cana. Statues or any images were not worshipped but instead a reminder for us Catholics that they existed ahead of us, just like the pictures of our deceased relatives. We do not worship saints; we only venerate them so that we may live with their virtues while we are still living on earth.
