Our First Official Task
Way back in June 2023, my co-officers and I were given our first official task from our SSLG Adviser. As newly elected Senior Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) Officers for S.Y. 2023-2024, we had to complete the task without assistance from the 2022-2023 SSLG Officers, as many of them were graduating, with their graduation fast approaching in July 2023.
Planning the Bulletin Board Design
As the newly elected SSLG President, I called a meeting with my co-officers to plan the design of the school bulletin board for the "125th anniversary of Philippine Independence." We had only one day to complete the design. Celebrating Philippine Independence is special to Filipinos, as it commemorates the day in 1898 when the country declared independence from Spain. This holiday, also known as Araw ng Kasarinlán or Araw ng Kalayaan, translates to "Day of Freedom," symbolizing the unity of the Filipino people. I instructed our SSLG Secretary to list the materials needed for our design and estimate the budget. Our Sgt. at Arms was tasked with purchasing the materials in the afternoon after classes dismissed.

The following morning, Saturday, when we had no classes, my co-officers and I went to the school to start decorating the school bulletin board. We brought the necessary materials and placed them on armchairs. The materials included crepe paper in different colors representing the Philippine flag (red, yellow, blue, and white). We cut the crepe paper into strips, folded them into flower-like shapes, and set them aside to prepare the printed tarpaulin poster.
Afterward, I began gluing the flower-like shapes crepe paper onto the bulletin board, arranging them by color to form the Philippine flag. We carefully decorated it until we finally finished. Tadaa! Here's the finished product of our bulletin board decoration.

The following Monday, after the short program celebrating Philippine Independence, many teachers from both elementary and secondary schools came to the bulletin board to take pictures. They were amazed by the design, with some saying it was the first time someone had designed the school bulletin board so simply yet so captivatingly. Some teachers even asked to take a picture with us to commemorate the SSLG's decorated bulletin board.
