Life as an Intern-Student in a BPO Company.

A week has passed since my last blog about our internship and now here we are starting our internship! Lucky us we passed on our interview in the CXI I know that Karl helped us to get passed and we are so thankful for that. Since he knows how hard it is to find a decent internship. As you know about Julius' blog, I was with him the whole time and it was very tiring for us even though we have our transport still it was a very stressful day for us. One of the hr admin messaged us about our orientation on the company it was located at MANA mall which was a 20-minute ride from my home plus the traffic of it thankfully we had our student discount so we don't have to spend more on our transport since we know our fare as a student.

The orientation day was the same we started our internship hours. By the way, we need to fulfill the 240 hours for our internship so we have to work 8 hours a day to quickly finish it anyway during the orientation usually they talked about the rules and regulations of the company and what will our workloads on our duty the production area was not that full because it is only day time but I know later that it will get filled with agents when it is close to midnight. We are 6 so they needed to assign some of us to the HR department, but our department should be on the SLT which means Service Level Technical that department's all about computer tech. The speaker for the orientation was Sir. Drei also he was the one who interviewed me he was a good supervisor and also, and he introduced some of his co- HR who is also greeted and told us not to be pressured by our work and that the stress is there and to enjoy our internship here. Sir. Drei treated us well he even mentioned the allowances we can earn through our work hours and also our break which is good for us since we had 1 hour and 30 mins of break. The staffs are approachable, especially the facility staff they are the ones who approached and told us where the orientation will happen. Since the other agents have an orientation and we joined them because it was the same presentation that Sir. Drei will be presented to us.

After the orientation, we had our first break which is a 15-minute break after that Sir assigned us to encode the applicant's initial interview results some of them failed but mostly passed. It was a ton of data we inputted my partner on this work was @dennmarc and we work carefully and fast since it was an important paper after that we took our lunch break which is a 1-hour break since we don't have our lunch food we decided to buy our food at 7/11 a budget meal food the legendary "sisig meal" haha! we talked and had fun on our first day, I did not mention that our shift was 4 pm - 1 am for me it is an okay shift since it was not a graveyard after all, and we will have enough sleep to rest. As our shift ends today, we are looking forward to tomorrow full of excitement we planned to just bring our lunch so that we don't have to spend money more since we are just commuting, and our money was just enough for our transport.

Day 2! Our day 2 was all about the SLT, Sir JC introduced us to what SLT's about and what work you will handle. We are overwhelmed by the number of group chats he was in since as an SLT person you are responsible for making the schedules and on the roll calls of every agent when I say "roll call" this is where you will mention the agent's shifts and where they are sited since CXI has two offices one in Bacoor and here in Kawit the crucial part of this is you have to notify the agents 4 hours earlier their shift so that they will know what their shifts and if an agent has a conflict she/he can make an early call about their problem so that they can quickly fix it, As an SLT person you are also the one who checks the equipment of the agents. As for our 2nd day we are assigned to set up the computers that applicants will use this is where they will answer the assessments followed by their initial interview. We also sit in on the applicant's initial interview so that when the time comes, we can also interview the applicants, some of the applicants passed some of them failed.

Also, we sort the employee files all of them encoding them, and scanning all of their credentials. it was all confidential but that was how we spent our 3rd day shift my partner on that was @dennmarc he was the one inputting the data of the employee I was the one sorting it. t was a box of documents and t was a lot most of our shift was taken by those workloads we did not even finished t even our shift ended we decided to continue our work the next day.

It was quite good because we can know the process of how they interview someone plus we can also practice the answer to the question on the interviewee I learned a lot on that day and also took note of what factors I needed to improve. Also, Sir. Dre gave us a treat of sweet as a reward for our handwork yay! thank you, sir!

On our 3rd day, this day was one of my favorites as of now because it was the time, we set up a computer! for me, this is my forte since I own a computer and I loved to fix and all about hardware because I know a little about that. Also, one of the HR noticed me as a jolly one and appreciated that so much that someone notices my work. We set up first the monitor by connecting it stand we usually used a screwdriver for that. After that setting up with the system unit connecting it some of the cords are defective and we struggle a bit with it even the some of the monitors has defects that we needed to test first before setting up.

I was the one who usually went to get the cords needed and help them set up I enjoy it I did not even notice the time has quickly passed and it was almost 7 when we took our lunch break I did not even take my 15mins to break yet because of all this excitement rushing on me even after I finished my lunch I wanted to return to my station again and it was almost 10mins since I finished my food hahaha! Some of the defects were tested by me and I even noted the specific issues about the defective equipment most of them are monitors even though they labeled them as "working" but since I already tested them and some of them have a dead pixel or have no power I noted it on the box my assumption was when they transported the equipment to our site since the equipment is from Bacoor and the weather's bad I had an idea that some of them broke during the ride, I even wrote "tested by an intern" so that they will know who tested. Time passed quickly, and I am just getting started the tiredness in me vanished but since our shift ended, we had to go home and get some rest for the next day.

For now, I am always looking forward to what we will do next for this internship since we have a lot to learn especially on the SLT management, I was hooked on the SLT now I will pursue learning what the SLTs do in their work. I plan to separate my time on the SLT and HR so that I will learn more about a different field and can reflect on things that I will work on soon. This internship is getting more and more exciting for me and also the agents are started to socialize with us as their SLT! Hopefully, we will finish this sooner and learn a lot from this experience, and graduate soon!
