Using the voteme channel is a privilege. I've stressed this for countless of times that access to this channel is not a given right. Thinking it's a right is telling the rest of the community that you're entitled to other people's money because it's a collective stake that's being used.
Hivephilippines gets its delegations based on the trust earned by community mods that worked in building the community. It's a tool to distribute support for other community members on each others behalf because it's powered by Bayanihan. It's not meant as a self-enriching tool (it's a secondary function) because the primary function has always been paying the favor forward to other members.
90% of the delegation rewards go back to the delegators, 10% of that value goes to the community fund.
Here's a previous paragraph pulled out from a recent post:
Let's say the same user is delegating to @hivephilippines with 100 HP. The community account takes 10% from the delegation rewards and sent to the community fund. The average curation returns is around 9%. So if you're delegating 100 HP, your delegation rewards will be 9 Hive throughout the year but 0.9 Hive goes to the community fund (10% fee). Can you imagine the impact of 100 HP to the community coffers? 0.9 Hive for a year, that is assuming the same user keeps their 100 HP delegations for 365 days which doesn't usually happen. Now let's go back to the Hive Price being at 0.32$. 0.9 Hive is equivalent to 0.288$.
For every 0.288$ you give to the community fund, you're getting 43.435$ in return and this is assuming you keep your delegations for an entire year, using the bot daily, and the prices remain relatively constant. Now all these scenarios happening together doesn't happen because price can go up, down or sideways. Regardless of the market direction, the amount of Hive you give to the community fund and value you receive from the votes are still proportional so you're still getting more for giving less.
Kahit mag delegate ako ng 15,000 HP sa community, mas malaki parin yung nakukuha kong return to what I'll be giving to the community at 25% voting weights and kahit 1% pa yan, that's still more than what I've giving.
Now here's the part where it grinds my gears. If anyone recalls the voteme statistics function on discord, it's form of tracking the bot's usage and it tags people that have been using the bot for the past 30 days.
I've stressed this before, it doesn't cost you anything to go out of your way and find some other folks to curate, you're spending time on Hive writing shitposts and you can't bother sparing some of your precious time looking out for other members?
If a user had a record of 25 self votes : 0 votes for others, it means for the past 25 days, you never considered going out of your way to curate others. You lose no voting power or money if you did this. And yet you kept maintaining that record. This isn't a community problem, this isn't a system problem, this is an attitude problem brought by complacency.
When you use voteme functions, you are using community resources to invest in your growth. And when you use that tool for others, you also perform one of the core functions the privilege was designed for. Serving none of these functions for a long period of time shows that you're not really getting the assignment despite being told indirectly.
Weeks to months have been spent warning users about these changes. The first one was installing the voteme statistics function to track user activity, it was supposed to make people more conscious about their voting behaviors. The few posts talking about the voteme where also indirect messages.
I have been observing the behaviors and it's not led by feelings but by numerical data which suggests some users who previously had 23:0 or similar ratio started having a 1:1 to 1:3 ratio. They understood the assignment, they understood the subtle hints.
Calling out specific people to change their voting behaviors from the start. They only changes because they got called out, they didn't change because they realized there is some error in their ways therefore they need to adjust their attitude. I appreciate the individuals whom I've been tracking since December when they started improving their ratio from a selfish route to a more community oriented ratio.
As mods, it's a duty for the community to make sure community resources aren't abused. Everyone is welcome to undelegate if they don't subscribe to the way we run things. If you think the reward system can be biased where mods get a substantial cut in the reward pool, maybe take a fact check on the amount of responsibilities mods have to deal with.
If Hivephilippines can't powerdown fast enough to compensate the delegators on time, who's going to volunteer their own liquid Hive at least 150 Hive ready to cover the costs? if the voteme bot malfunctions, who do you think does the maintenance work? if bad actors come into the community to cause trouble, who do you think steps up to handle those dramas? the fact that these functions aren't something regular members have to think about is sometimes a privilege.
Because when you start thinking about others and have a sense of responsibility to do things for the benefit of the common good, you don't just stop your Hive time after shitposting, you check what else can be done.
There are people on my pending list that have specific voting weights ready to be adjusted depending on their voting behaviors.
Remember that the records show the past 30 days of activity.
So if you had any plans on changing, you should've done that last month or even since November when I was pinging the channel checking the track record. I don't just implement on a whim. I gather and observe first and it can take weeks before come up with changes so be mindful whenever I'm making community shitposts that come across as rants. Minsan andito rin mga hints and it's publicly viewable.
For users that have a 1:3 to 1:4 ratio self:others, while I understand the gesture that you're voting other people more frequently, the roles you have also affect the voting weights of the recipients. Because of your roles that are high in rank on the server, this causes a rapid depletion in the voting power making less VP to go around for everyone else when they need it. Do it in moderation, a healthy ratio is at 1:1 - 1:2 range. I can understand the good intentions, but the act when in excess will compromise the service for everyone else that may need it.
I've never used the voteme on myself (adamada account) for more than a year or two. But I did use it on other people. And if you see Hivephilippines voting on my posts, it's because someone else triggered the vote on me or the bot was trailing votes from another account. I started Hive and built my account with more than 90% of the support coming outside of the Filipino community. I think it's already apparent that I only have a handful of people I know from this community that were around since the legacy chain.
I'm just at a phase where I want to start paying the favor forward and putting it on this community and the people in it. From my perspective, I'm just giving the support I never had to a newer generation that had a better chance at thriving than when I had to crawl during my start. This one of the reasons for my why in the platform. I have purpose to make the community better than when I found it. Maybe you're on Hive to make money, I'm on Hive to build something greater than myself which also makes money on the sidelines, we may not be the same.
You can call this a load of hubris and I'll understand. But hubris of mine has helped me build something with others who share like-minded values within the community.
Putting the commune in the community spirit and powering it with the concept of Bayanihan. If you find it hard to adjust to an attitude where you become more supportive of strangers and giving, maybe this community was never meant for you and maybe you're doing it a favor by just leaving.
If likas na nga talaga sa tao maging matulungin, di mo na kailangan ng reminders or utusan mga to.
Sinulat ni Adam.
When a Hive user finally realized that giving support to others are far more important than his/her personal token gains, then that Hiver is now a gem, worthy of being a community leader themselves.
When you have the means to help, why not help noh? Sometimes people need to learn to not be selfish. Not saying it’s wrong to be selfish, kaya nga may sometimes.
Anyways, drain naman po ang vp natin, sana po give chance to others din huhu
Thank you thank you for this ngayon ko lang nalaman din tong info😌😊
That's some amazing work and community management! We need more people like you in every community! Folks in #HiveBr are doing a good job and I hope it turns out like yours!

Noted.
Day or a week, by months yung pag observe. Nobody should get reprimanded for helping. Policies can change as needed parin.
thanks sa info adam kakadiscover ko lang din netong votemechannel sa discord, i'll help sa paghanap ng pwede icurate na pinoys
