My 6-day Vacation Journal- Day 2- Celebrating Mom's Birthday

This day is the very reason why I opted to file a vacation leave.

It's my mom's Birthday! I planned to just buy her a cake to celebrate but it changed when my in-laws arrived. My plan flew out the window and We just rushed to Rosario La Union to buy the things I need.

My husband decided to cook "papaitan" and as for me, I wanted seafoods so I bought shrimps, crabs and mussels.

Morning Hustle

Because of being tired last night, We all woke up late. Husband and I wanted to go to Rosario using his bike to buy the menu we planned earlier but to my surprise, husband's nephew offered their car and accompanied us to Rosario Public Market.

We rushed back as soon as we completed the things we need. It was 10:30 am and I am really rushing to cook! Good thing, I have bought a butane stove which husband used for his papaitan. I used the two-burner stove.

Please don't mind the toolbox 😅

We have also added few items on the menu and so, here's the complete list of what we rushed to prepare:

1. Seafoods with Cajun
2. Papaitan
3. Spaghetti
4. Fried Chicken

Of course, rice is mandatory and we had watermelon and cake for the dessert.

Lunch is Served!

After all the cooking, it was now time to eat. We prepared the table and my mother-in law prayed for the food and we all Thanked God for my mother's life. After that, we sang the birthday song. In every chance we can,throughout the day, we sang it. She just laughs and told us how grateful she was.

Teary-eyed mom

It was so nice looking at her smiling all those time. I love my mom so much. In her 68 years of living, she spent her 30 years taking care of me and now, my whole family. I am literally crying now as I am typing this. I remember all her sacrifices, her sweat and tears just to raise me...We went through happy and sad moments together. We argued, we make up...Her tender-loving-care wrapped around me keeps me warm...My dad may have contributed a lot of finances but my mom did all the dirty work. And she deserves to be loved, in fact, she deserves so much more. This simple celebration isn't enough but it's all I could afford...and I know she understands it...she always did.
And that's what happened on this great mom's 68th birthday.

I would like to share to you some of the things that she instilled in me:

1. Always...ALWAYS be grateful for all the blessings.
2. Choose to forgive than to carry the burden of hating someone.
3. Spend wisely and save up for the future (this is really hard!)
