Hello, holla, bonjour my fellow hivers its your melcakes, back again for another blog! How are you guys? I hope everyone is doing fine.Well... you are much very welcome to my blog dear and have a good time reading.
This blog is about my experience as dance choreographer.
Our community held a dance contest in which only those who lived among the community would have the chance to join the contest.
This dance is a tradition of our community where every year they would held a dance presentation in which they called it"Barangay Night"but this time they made a twist. They decided to have it contest and would provide a cash prize.
The people in our village among the leaders was excited to join. They were all planning for the contest as well as the concept of the dance.
I was told to be the choreographer of our group representing our village. At first I declined due to my academic schedule but they give me an option in which we are two choreographer which happened my cousins.
My cousins asked for my idea about the concept so I suggested the cultural dance in which she agreed. So I was the one who choose the music and remix it
Since I do have a classes in the morning and our practiced is only at nigth.Although the schedule was good but throughout the practiced days,I cant help but to have a hard time managing my time cause there are days that I am not around during practiced due to my assignments and exams.Luckily my cousin was there to take place.
While the event is coming our village was busy practicing for the event and we had 1 week to practicd. For our dance we had,Tinikling,Kuradang,Sayaw sa bangko and Bulaklakan.
The dancers were mixed were we have a mother's,a kids age from 5-10 and a teenagers.
The tinikling dance needs a bamboo were the dancers will dance using a bamboo.
For the props we need a bamboo in which we were the one who find a bamboo for it.It is easy for us to find one since one of our neighborhood has a bamboozled tree.
Sayaw sa bangko is a cultural dance were the dancers will dance above the chair.
While for the bulaklakan it needed a flowers, dancers will dance while holding flowers. So to conserve money we made a DIY flowers that was made by the people in our village.
During the event,I was amazed by how other villagers performance. It gives us entertainment where there are kids who are happened to be gay and they do entertain us with there performance. There are also a group of performance who are already a citizens.
During our performance I was the one who guided the backdrop at the back.I was also cheering the dancers at the back and was telling them to never forget to put a smile on their face and enjoy the dance.
During our sayaw sa bangko all I can hear is the loud cheer coming from the audience as they cant believe what the dancers did.
Later on the announcement of winner happened. The contestant coming from other village who also performed a cultural dance with a theatre style won the 3rd pize. The group of teenagers who performed a hip-hop dance won the 2nd prize.
And............yes! We got the 1st prize.
As soon as the host announced it everyone was loudly cheering and clapping for us.
The event was made not for teenagers but for all of the people in the community.I see the unity, cooperation and dedication of everyone as they are not there not to win but to dedicate their dance for the community.
That’s it for today’s blog guys.See you on my next blog🖐️. Don't forget to spread love💗peace ✌️kindness 🥰and joy!
I also have passion in dancing, in my high school days I always participated any activities for the sake of my grades and now, I only dance here in house together with my siblings .
I love dancing when I was in grade school, but people change HAHAHA. Keeping more experience specially in that kind of event can make you more confident. It's nice seing your co dancers appreciating the time😊
I guess you lose interest in dancing.Yeah, they were just enjoying their time.
Cool! Dance choreographer in the community, that's awesome! 💃 Gives some real tradition vibes ✨
Yeah.It really hits different bringing back the traditional dance.
Such a great opportunity to participate this kind of activities. When it comes to presentation it's always been selective so that means those who performs are the best among others. Wow, the culture was precisely visualize.
Indeed.Luckily most of our village people know hot to dance.
Well, nothing's new about this when it comes to dancing, you're a born winner when it comes to dancing ♥️ thanks for sharing @melcakes and congratulations 🎉
