Innovating Multifunctional Waterproof Laptop Bag

Greetings, my fellow Hivers! I hope you are all doing well today. I am thrilled to share with you of how my groupmates in Research created an innovative multifunctional waterproof laptop bag.

As we all know, keeping our laptops clean and protected is essential for their smooth functioning. Dirt, dust, and water can accumulate inside the device, leading to several issues in its operation. To avoid such problems, it is advisable to carry a laptop bag with you wherever you go. Not only does it provide protection from external elements, but it can also increase the lifespan of your device. We came up with a multifunctional and waterproof laptop bag that combines various features to meet the unique needs of our users. For instance, our bag has multiple compartments that can accommodate not just the laptop but also other essentials such as chargers, notebooks, and pens. It is also equipped with a detachable strap that can be adjusted to your preferred length for added comfort.

In addition to its functionality, we also promote the high-end fashion of Filipino-made laptop bags. Our bag is a motivational creation that showcases the creativity and ingenuity of our local designers. We evaluated the Filipino preference for certain designs and incorporated various fabric additives to create a unique and stylish bag that stands out.

This study of ours is to evaluate the acceptability of a Multifunctional Waterproof laptop bag and focus on different types of fabrics suitable for making such Waterproof Laptop Bag. The study aims to provide innovative ideas to the community on how to create effective laptop bag. We will also conduct water absorbency tests on various fabrics.

Collecting and Preparation of Materials

After conducting a thorough survey and analysis of the necessary materials required to make the laptop bag, we went ahead and purchased them. We also managed to borrow a sewing machine to kickstart the process. However, we realized that we could reduce our expenses significantly if we could source cheaper materials. This led us to explore various options and after some research, we stumbled upon a cluster of stores in Colon, Cebu that offer fabrics at lower prices compared to other areas. We are glad to have found this cost-effective solution as it will aid us in creating the laptop bag within our budget while maintaining the quality of the end product.

Water Absorption Experiment

We will test and measure the absorbed water from the three fabrics used in making the Multifunctional Waterproof Laptop Bag. We measure the quantity that is absorbed or the time it takes for the fabric to absorb a certain quantity of liquid.

Preparing of materials for the experiment

Every measurement of water, 5 minutes are given to test if the fabric absorb the liquid substance.
This is to test that the fabrics used in making the laptop bag are waterproof.

We designed the Multifunctional Waterproof laptop bag that would to fit
standard sizes of devices: 10.5", 12", 13", 14", 15" and 15.6"

Cutting of the pattern and materials needed

To begin with, we carefully sketched the shape of the bag that we intended to make. We took our time to ensure that we captured all the necessary details and measurements, including the size and shape of the bag, the location of pockets and zippers, and the dimensions of the straps.

After we were satisfied with our sketches, we proceeded to create a pattern. We used the sketches as a guide to draw the pattern onto a large sheet of paper. This required a lot of precision and attention to detail to ensure that the pattern was accurately captured. Once we had the pattern on paper, we transferred it onto pattern paper.

This was done using a special tool called a tracing wheel, which allowed us to transfer the pattern onto the paper with ease and accuracy. We then spent some time verifying the accuracy of the pattern by checking that all the measurements were correct and that the shape was exactly as we had intended. We made any necessary adjustments until we were completely confident that the pattern was perfect.

We used the pattern to cut pieces from the fabric that we had selected for the bag. This required a steady hand and a sharp pair of scissors to ensure that the fabric was cut precisely according to the pattern. We carefully labeled each piece to ensure that we could keep track of which piece was which, and then we were ready to begin the exciting process of assembling the bag.

Constructing of the laptop bag

Our group required a sewing machine that was specifically designed for sewing leather fabric, and we were fortunate enough to borrow one from Bugtong Upholstery shop. Luckily, one of my groupmates knew someone who owns a sewing workshop that specializes in making bags, sofas, gaming chairs, and much more. Since the machines available at our school were not suitable for sewing leather fabric, we decided to rent a machine instead. We rented the sewing machine from the neighbor of one of our classmates, and the owner of the machine was incredibly kind and helpful. He even took the time to guide us through the step-by-step process of making the bag, which was a valuable learning experience for us.

This Multifunctional waterproof laptop bag introduces the impact innovation of a world trend laptop bag, we also organized to be a trend setter in the industry and collides the Structures of quality on it. The material we've used in the product experimental are rendered by usage from the Materials we need to use. A vegan leather that is rarely used and design to construct a laptop base fabric, and a CVC foam sheet that is used for embedding the fabrics under on it, and a waterproof linen fabric that covers the under linen and protect the shelf of a CVC foam sheet inside the fabric.

The experimental study showed that our product ends with a trendy classification of making a laptop bag and the articles gives a connection on each statement and the needs from the community to provoke the quality and the innovation as a whole. The motivation of this study allows the creativity through the quality without the imitation and promotes our own design to export successfully in other laptop bag brand.
