Empowering the Sisterhood and Camaraderie of the Girls through Scouting

in Hive PH3 months ago

Hello everyone! I'm back. How are you my dear friends of this lovely community? I had a lot of tasks to attend to lately that's why I missed updating everyone. Here I am telling you another wonderful story about our School Level Girl Scouting that happened last January 27-28, 2024—a two-day activity for the Girls.

Days before the activity, the girls were told about the series of activities and the things they should bring and wear on the two-day scouting. It was our first time conducting the said activity for our school is not so active when it comes to scouting. But then we realized that students were very eager to participate and parents were very much supportive about it. So, we need to push through the activity for them to make their High school journey more memorable.

On the first day of the activity, we need to set up our tents. There were four different patrols, namely, Courteous Patrol, Friendly Patrol, Loyal Patrol, and Helpful Patrol. Every group has its troupe leaders who will monitor all the students in their group and they also have their patrol leaders who will help teachers in monitoring and serves as the leader of the group.

Setting up their tents is not easy for the girls because the place where our school is located is somehow rocky area and it's hard to set up the tent but in the end working hand-in-hand will finally be made to set up tents for their group. Also, they put up decorations and a dining area. Troupe leaders help the girls in making the tents more colorful and presentable. For it is our first time joining the activity, girls should be properly instructed on what to do and prepare if they are not familiar with it. By having this kind of activity, girls learn to persevere and not give up on what their goals are. Even the heat of the sun could not stop them from their goals.

Another activity that the girls were tasked to do was cooking meals for the group. They were tasked to cook pork menudo for lunch. Every group will have three representatives to help each other to cook the meal. As they were preparing their recipes and ingredients for the cooking contest, everyone was eager to win and did their best to produce the best meal.

Luckily, the loyal patrol wins the best menudo preparation. It was indeed a friendly competition for all. This activity teaches the girls to strengthen the sisterhood among one another and not lose hope. Giving them the chance to do their best in serving meals for their family when they go back to their homes.

Knot Tying and Hand Signals

Another important lesson that the girls were actively participating in was the knot tying and hand signals. This activity is vital for everyone to learn to survive when times get tough and if there is an emergency. There were troupe leaders who were assigned to give discussions on the different knot-tying techniques. Girls were eager to perform the different knot-tying techniques.

Bandaging Lesson

Afterward, the girls also became busy-bee who wholeheartedly performed in the bandaging activity discussed by the DRRM Team of the Municipality. It was a challenging task for they were all first-timers but luckily, the girls welcomed the challenge with an open heart and were anxious to deal with it.

Campfire Ceremony

It was a fruitful day for everyone and ending the first night with a solemn campfire. The friendship was strengthened and the sisterhood among one another was developed.

On the second day, the clean-up drive was the first activity that the girls and the teachers were doing. From this activity, the girls were trained to maintain a nurturing environment for everyone. Picking up the plastic bottles and trash near the road. Also, this activity will help everyone to have a healthier body for walking during the daytime and will keep their body active.

Another survival method is the given challenge to the team for the second day. All they have to do is to cook an egg using the paper bag. Each team will have three representatives who will perform the activity. With this activity, the girls will be given the chance how to learn to survive when there will be no utensils found in the woods. Survival is crucial when we are faced with the different challenges of life. Learning how to survive, focus on our goal, and not lose hope is the best thing one can do.

The two-day activity ended with a lot of smiles and realizations from the teachers and students. Helping one another in the team and learning how to survive the different challenges were always the main goals of the group. Participating in school camping has a lot of benefits. Gaining friendship and sisterhood, and learning different skills to survive, also gives us a chance to our self to disconnect from technology and enjoy the nature around us, and lastly, character building which is essential for everyone to pay respects to the higher officials who are there with them.

That's all for today my dear friends. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and hopefully, you also learn.
