Attempted To Run 5 km Today. Did I Achieve It?

in Hive PH2 months ago

Running has always been part of my lifestyle. But for some reason, I stopped doing it. It's a whole body work out that's why I like it.

My university decided to make Monday an academic break giving me one more day of staying here in my home town. And just this afternoon, I suddenly felt that I wanted to run and set up a goal of 5 km.

Early 4 o'clock when I started to do my warm-up exercises to avoid injury. I wore a nice set of running clothes and used my rubber shoes from Nike (not an advertisement. Hahaha!). Also, I wore sunscreen to protect myself from UV rays.

The place where I ran was relatively near my house and a walk going there already served as my warmup. The time was still sunny but luckily it was also windy. It was a four Lane Road and two sides of it could be used by joggers and bikers. Also, it's a really nice place to exercise because not a lot of vehicles are passing, and the presence of other joggers makes you want to run more.

I did not just run earlier but it was a combination of running and brisk walking. When I felt that I was already feeling tired and thirsty, that's when I decided to take a break and bought a bottle of water for hydration.

What I always remind myself when going out for a run is to always consider the people and the place I will be running. Respect should always be present. A simple smile with the people I pass is a nice gesture and the most important thing is to not litter. The place I went to is free and the least that I can do is maintain its cleanliness.

It was already 5:30 in the afternoon and I decided to head back home. It is once again a nice walk and served a cool down. I will never get tired of looking at sunsets every time I go out to run. Also, the Mayon Volcano didn't show up today but on a good day, her details can be seen from where I run.

To end this blog, as I checked my Strava app, I was able to run/brisk at a distance of 4.79 miles. In kilometers, it's 7.7! Not bad for today's workout. I'll try to run as much as I can and hoard those endorphins.

Thank you for reading my blog!
