Good day everyone! Zak here with a bit of a poll question, make that two questions:
- How many Warhammer 40,000 Datasheets are there?
and
- How fast should I review them??
Well.. at a furtive and rapid count of the datasheets that are legal to field in a standard tournament and hence no Legends or Horus Heresy datasheets for 40k... then the total comes to approximately:
902 Datasheets!
That's CRAZY!
I have started to review them on a random wheel thingy, starting 10 or 11 days ago:
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 1 - Adeptus Custodes, Prosecutors
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 2 - Blood Angels, Baal Predator
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 3 - Leagues of Votann, Sagitaur
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 4 - Dark Angels, Belial
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 5 - Death Guard, Biologus Putrifier
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 6 - Tyranids, Barbgaunts
- Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Wheel 7 - Drukhari, Scourges
Right, so at the moment 7 posts in 10 days... even if I make it 1 post a day, it will be 2 years and 171 days before I review them all... and in that time, there will be new codexes with new units made and some datasheets will become obsolete and change... I suppose that as time goes by I can edit the Hive Datasheet Library to include and exclude or recategorize datasheets into groups as time goes by...
But the fact remains is that each datasheet should have its own post.
The fact is that some days I might have the time and energy to post MORE datasheets at a higher frequency and at other times I will have no time to post...
So the big question is still:
How many reviews can I post per day/week/etc? How frequently should I post them if I should say, have unlimited time to write them?
That is something that only YOU the community can tell me!

I say post about them all. That is 907 days of activity that you will be rewarded for, and I , for one, find a great interest in data dumps. I have 2+years worth of that little heart button and the exclamation point tip-bots that I would use daily. Just my .006 cents worth, but I like the format.
Not only that, you can still do your regular posts, and having a 2 year backlog will give you plenty of time to plan the next round.

I like seeing your take on them, and especially how they synergise with the rest of their army and can be used against different types of enemy.
Personally, I'd say to do them at whatever rate you're comfortable with (based on how real life is treating you !) but there's no harm in taking an occasional break and writing about something relegated but different for a few days just to keep it fresh.

The thing is that the Hive blockchain doesn't actually need the WH40K datasheets repeated here, anyone interested can just look them up.
What's interesting is your personal take on them and how you think they affect the battlefield... so I don't think it'd be that interesting to do them all, so you could pick out the most interesting units, or combine several datasheets in a single post where units work well together, etc.

And then yes... these reviews are all about ME giving an assessment of these units.
Since I don't want to get "stuck in the chip aisle" (getting stuck making a choice), I shall keep spinning the randomizer wheel.
I'd say limit your data sheets to armies you play and armies you have faced so you can write with more experience at first.
I've played this game for a long time. I have faced most things...
I have not fought against Chaos Knights, Genestealer Cults and Leagues of Votann, but I have some Votann.
It does not narrow things down much since those don't have many data sheets.
However now that you mentioned it, I really want to fight those three armies now. !LOL
