Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!

This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.

After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

• Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
• Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
• Selling some of the collection to friends.

The total remaining is $530 (R10,000 ZAR).

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!

Astra Militarum, Leman Russ Demolisher

10th Edition Index

The Leman Russ Battle Tank has a large variety of variants, similar to the Baneblade and its many variants.

Usually this means that there is a main cannon that is different and that the tank has some sort of specialist ability it uses that gun for.

The Hull stats and most of the hull weapons options should be the same. Of course one Variant might be best fielded with different hull and sponson guns than others.

The Demolisher is like the Space Marine Vindicator, it has a big scary gun with a short range. It is basically rifle-range so it drives in close to fire upon the enemy.

It costs 200pts to field and $70 to buy new.

Weapons

This tank is armed with a Demolisher Battle Cannon and a Hull-mounted Lascannon.

The Lascannon can be replaced by a Heavy Bolter or Heavy Flamer

The tank can also have the following sponsons, sponsons are 2x of these weapons:

• 2 Heavy Bolters
• 2 Heavy Flamers
• 2 Multi Meltas
• 2 Plasma Cannons

It can also be give one of the following:

• 1 Heavy Stubber
• 1 Storm Bolter

And lastly, it can be equipped with a Hunter-Killer Missile.

Ranged Weapons

Demolisher Battle Cannon

24" Range, D6+3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S14, AP-3 and D6 Damage each.
Blast (Add +1 Attack for every 5 models in the enemy unit rounding down)

Lascannon

48" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S12, AP-3 and D6+1 Damage each.

Heavy Bolter

36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S5, AP-1 and 2 Damage each.
Sustained Hits 1 (Rolls of a 6 on the to Hit dice score 1 additional hit)

Heavy Flamer

12" Range, D6 Shots, Hitting on Auto, S5, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Torrent (Auto hits, just roll for number of attacks.)
Ignores Cover (Target cannot have Benefit of Cover against this attack)

Multi Melta

18" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S9, AP-4 and D6 Damage each.
Melta 2 (Add 2 damage if the target is within half range of 9")

Plasma Cannon - Standard firing option

36" Range, D3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S7, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Blast (Add +1 Attack for every 5 models in the enemy unit rounding down)

Plasma Cannon - Overcharged firing option

36" Range, D3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S8, AP-3 and 2 Damage each.
Blast (Add +1 Attack for every 5 models in the enemy unit rounding down)
Hazardous (Roll a die after using this weapon, 2 rolls are needed as there are 2 cannons. On a roll of 1 the tank takes 3 Mortal Wounds)

Heavy Stubber

36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 3 (This weapon gets 3 additional attacks at half range of 18")

Storm Bolter

12" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S4 AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 2 (This weapon gets 2 additional attacks at half range of 12")

Hunter Killer Missile

48" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S14 AP-3 and D6 Damage each.
One Shot (This weapon can only be fired once per game)

Melee Weapons

Armoured Tracks

6 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S7, AP0 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Line-Breaker

This tank can use its Demolisher Cannon to target a unit in engagement of this tank as long as no other friendly units are involved in that combat. The tank also does not suffer penalties when shooting while in engagement range of the enemy.

Thoughts

Right... thoughts... as someone who uses 2x Vindicators in my 2000pts list, I LIKE Demolishers. The main concern will be what options to take.

I think Lascannon and 2x Multi-meltas is good. Lascannon and 2x Plasma Cannons can also be fun.
Triple Heavy Flamer plus the big blast weapon could make this an ideal Overwatch target.

The Line Breaker rule lets you shoot off threats on the tank but you can also shoot past the units in engagement with some of its guns at no penalty and obliterate something else.

I am a big fan!

That makes 41 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 46.06% Completed. The total Completed is 22.65% Complete! Can I review them all?!
