Oh look, the "what-the-hell-is-that?" is back! This time it is not on a manta-drawn chariot... coin...

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - Datasheet Review post!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit in the game of Warhammer 40,000

The last of the Indexes! A new challenge!

Right, I am finally ahead and by my best estimations as I explained in this Post, I should be able to keep ahead of the release curve and get the remainder of the Indexes reviewed before those Codex releases.

So I embark on a new challenge. I have calculated that there are roughly 148 reviews to do. I have chosen my frequency and have given myself 96 days to review them all. That means that I am aiming at Day 96 being the 21st of July 2025!

Today is Day 18/96.
I have reviewed 29/148.

Time elapsed: 18.75%
Review Completion: 19.59%
A little ahead! Good!

Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear

With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

  • Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
  • Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
  • Selling some of the collection to friends.

At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $226 to pay off!

Every bit counts!

Back to the review!

Chaos Daemons, Exalted Flamer

10th Edition Index

I really don't know what to say about this Daemon... its a Daemon of Tzeetch... they are weird. I can barely make out that this thing has arms... and then it has mouths on both ends... or does it have two rear ends?

This model is 65pts.

Let's check their stats and abilities!

Stats

Movement 9"
Toughness 4
Save 7+/4++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 6
Ld 7+
OC 1

Weapons

Standard weapons: Fire of Tzeentch; Flamer mouths.

Ranged Weapons

Fire of Tzeetch - Blue Fire

18" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-3 and 3 Damage each.
Psychic (This weapon has the Psychic keyword)
Ignores Cover (Enemies cannot claim Benefit of Cover from this Weapon)

Fire of Tzeetch - Pink Fire

12" Range, 2D6 Shots, Hitting on Auto, S5, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.
Psychic (This weapon has the Psychic keyword)
Ignores Cover (Enemies cannot claim Benefit of Cover from this Weapon)
Torrent (This Weapon auto-hits, roll for number of attacks and wounds only)

Melee Weapons

Flamer Mouths

4 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S5, AP0 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Deep Strike - If this unit arrives on the Battlefield from Reserves, it can be set up anywhere on the battlefield more than 9" from enemy models.

Blazing Warpfire

While this model is leading a unit, ranged weapons in the unit have the Assault Keyword.

Flames of Change

After this unit has shot, if the target was not a Monster or a Vehicle then roll a dice, on a 4+ that unit is Aflame. Until your next turn that unit is at -2 Movement, -2 Advance rolls and -2 to Charge.

Thoughts

The Flames of Change is a bit meh. Great for running down and trapping something but the Exalted Flamer and the Flamers it leads are not good at melee so one could say that they are preventing an assault unit from charging them.

No. Its bad. The weapon only has a 18 and 12" range. So if you hit an infantry unit at its max range of 18, thus using the anti-tank shooting profile to make the distance count. Most infantry move 6, so they would move 4 and be 13" away, unable to make a charge.

This is the only scenario this really helps. If you use the 12" flamer they are within 12, meaning 11, minus 4 is 7" and thus they would need a 9 on 2 dice and they would still make the charge. And this is on slow infantry.

It would not work at all on flying/jetpack assault units, Aeldari with a base movement of 7", units that can Advance and Charge, etc etc.

Giving them Assault in shooting is much more useful. You can quickly reposition for shots. Just remember to bring something to screen them from combat.

That makes 17 Chaos Daemon Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 34% Completed! The total of the remaining Index reviews is now 116.

Thank you for reading!

Hey that thing has teeth for toes or is it the other way round?🤔

I think it has mouths on both sides? I dunno.

This is typical of the God of Mutation.

I want to know what drugs where taken in designing this model?
