PS Gaming Controller Necklace Carved in Wood - Collar de Control de PS Gaming Tallado en madera [ENG-ESP]

Hello friends, I hope you're all doing well, especially doing the things you love. This time, I want to share something new with you. But first, I want to thank the Jewelry community for supporting my posts, which I always do with great pleasure. It's my pleasure to present a carved wooden pendant representing a PS controller. In my youth, I was a very avid video game player, and when the PS1 came out back in the '90s, it was a huge success. So, to remember those golden days, I've made this little gift. I'll briefly explain how I did it. I hope you like it. Let's begin!

Hola amigos, espero que se todos se encuentren muy bien, especialmente haciendo las cosas que más les gustan. Yo en esta oportunidad quiero compartir algo nuevo con ustedes, no sin antes agradecer en primer lugar a la comunidad de Jewelry por apoyar mis publicaciones que siempre las hago con mucho gusto. Y es de mi gusto presentarles un dije tallado en madera, cuya figura representa un control de la cónsola PS, en mi juventud fui un muy asiduo jugador de videojuegos, y cuando salió la PS1 por allá en los 90 fue algo grandioso. Así que para recordar aquellos días dorados, he realizado este pequeño detalle, paso a explicarlo como lo hice brevemente, espero les guste. Comencemos!

PROCESS

The pieces of wood that I always use are running out, and they are softer, but fortunately I found a good piece from which I could make several pieces, so to make the PS control I only take a small piece of 3 centimeters long by 1.5 centimeters high and 5 millimeters wide, with these measurements it is enough to make the piece of a size appropriate for a necklace.

Las piezas de madera que siempre utilizo se me están terminando, y son las más suaves, pero afortunadamente encontré un buen pedazo del cual podría hacer varias piezas, así que para hacer el control de PS solo saco una pequeña pieza de 3 centímetros de largo por 1,5 centímetros de alto y 5 milímetros de ancho, con estas medidas es suficiente para hacer la pieza de un tamaño acorde para un collar.

Once the piece is cut and ready, I first clean it thoroughly with sandpaper to leave the surface clean and then draw the silhouette of the controller. I'll start with just the silhouette and then the rest. To cut this part out of the wood, I'll use a utility knife, since the wood is very soft.

Después de tener la pieza cortada y lista, primero la limpio muy bien con una lija para dejar la superficie limpia y así poder dibujar la silueta del control. Comenzaré unicamente con la silueta y luego con el resto, para cortar esta parte de la amdera utilizaré un cúter de papelería, ya que la madera es muy suave.

Using the box cutter, I began to trim the wood at the ends of the piece, following the previously drawn outline. As I cut, I then used sandpaper to shape and clean the piece to see the immediate result.

Con el cúter comence a cordar la amdera de los extremos de la pieza siguiendo el trazo antes dibujado. Mientras iba cortando, después con una lija le iba dando forma y limpiando la pieza para ver el resultado inmediato.

Next, I continued cutting the side section and finally the bottom. Also using sandpaper, I polished the entire piece part by part until I got the shape I had in mind.

Seguidamente seguí cortando la partde que va hacia los lados y finalmente la parte inferior. También con la lija fui parte por parte puliendo toda la pieza hasta dar con la forma que tenía en mente.

After I have the piece, I make the accessories that go on the bottom. These controls had four buttons on the right side and a four-pointed arrow pointing in all directions on the left side. I draw them in pencil, and to carve these shapes, I'll use one of the thinnest knives I have.

Después de tener la pieza hago los accesorios que van en la parte inferior, estos controles tenían 4 botones en el lado derecho y una flecha de 4 puntas que iba a todas las direcciones en el lado izquierdo. Los dibujo con lápiz y para tallar estas figura utilizaré una de las cuchillas de hoja más fina que tengo.

With the tools, I begin making the cuts for the arrowhead, sinking and removing the wood to form the shape. For the buttons, I use a large metal needle to dig small holes, then with a very small screwdriver, I make the holes slightly larger so they're visible. Finally, I sand and polish the entire piece again to ensure it's clean.

Con las herramientas comienzo a hacer los cortes para la cruz de flechas, hasta hundir y sacar la madera y quede la forma. Para los botones utilizo una aguja de metal grande para cavar pequeños hoyos, luego con un destornillador muy pequeño hago un poco más grandes los hoyos para que se puedan notar. Por último vuelvo a lijar y pulir toda la pieza para que quede limpia.

To finish the piece, I applied a protective varnish to the wood to protect it over time. I also added the collar, and that completed the work.

Para finalizar con la pieza utilicé barniz protector para ponerle a la madera y protegerla con el tiempo. Le puse también el collar y así quedó finalizado este trabajo.

FINAL WORK

What did you think of the final work? I think it does look like an old PS control, although of course, these have more detail, but due to the size, it wasn't possible to make them. However, you can see the entire piece without any problem. I hope you liked the result. Qué les ha parecido el trabajo final? Creo que si parece un antiguo control de PS, aunque claro, estos tienen más detalles, pero por el tamaño no fue poosible hacerlos, sin embargo se puede notar la pieza completa sin ningún problema.
