Coral Choker [Eng/Esp]

We live in constant evolution, in a permanent change that covers all areas and aspects of our lives and accessories do not escape from it. Fashion comes and goes and today, for example, the use of chokers or shockers, which were very fashionable during my adolescence, is making a comeback.

Vivimos en constante evolución, en un cambio permanente que abarca todas las áreas y aspectos de nuestra vida y los accesorios no escapan de ello. La moda va y viene y hoy día por ejemplo está regresando el uso de las gargantillas o shockers que estuvieron muy de moda durante mi adolescencia.

Happy #jewerly day creative people! I hope you are having a great week. Today I want to share with you a piece that I loved making, not only for its simplicity, but for how pretty and delicate it looks.

It is a choker or shocker that is just now coming back into fashion, since in the 90's it was used in many different presentations since they were made of fabric, woven, with ribbons, in wire wrap and so on.

Well adjusted to the neck and generally with a charm in the center (at least the ones I used), it was an accessory that could not be missed.

In fact, it has been so beloved that it seems to have never disappeared completely, because every so often the trend returned and even many refused to say goodbye to this accessory, so I think we all at some point have seen it pass in front of our eyes or in a shop window.

Feliz día gente creativa de #jewerly! Espero estén teniendo una excelente semana. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una pieza que me encantó hacer, no sólo por su simpleza, sino por lo bonita y delicada que se ve.

Se trata de una gargantilla o shocker que justo ahora vuelven a estar de moda, ya que por los años 90 se estuvo usando bastante en muchísimas presentaciones pues habían de tela, tejidas, con cintas, en alambrismo y pare de contar.

Bien ajustadas al cuello y generalmente con un dije en el centro (por lo menos las que yo utilicé), era un accesorio que no podía faltar.

De hecho, ha sido tan querido que pareciera nunca haber desaparecido por completo, pues cada cierto tiempo regresaba la tendencia e incluso muchas se negaron a despedirse de éste accesorio, por lo que creo que todos en algún punto lo hemos visto pasar delante de nuestros ojos o en alguna vidriera.

And today they are fashionable again, but they have not come alone because they can be seen accompanied by two more chains of different lengths and thicknesses, as well as design and definitely make a perfect trio that can be adapted to the needs and routines of each person. In fact, I have seen them in casual designs, to wear on a daily basis and others a little more elaborate as for more formal activities.

In my case, my routine is usually quite varied, because I take my children to their practices, I go out to do business and sometimes we attend presentations in theaters (in the case of Miranda) so I must have some variety to suit the moment, so I've made a few and I really think I should stop, but I can not!

In fact, the piece I bring you today I made to complete a set I had made weeks ago. It consists of two bracelets made of elastic nylon with gold and coral beads and earrings with the same materials, so that they matched, only that I added a thin chain that gave a special touch.

And if you know me a little, you already know that I couldn't leave it there and since chokers are in fashion I decided to make one as a complement and I definitely loved the result and I'm sure you will too, because it's super easy to make, you need few materials and it's not complicated at all.

Y hoy día están de moda nuevamente, pero no han venido solos pues se les puede ver acompañados por dos cadenas más de diferentes largos y grosores, así como de diseño y definitivamente hacen un trío perfecto que puede adaptarse a las necesidades y rutinas de cada quien. De hecho las he visto en diseños informales, para usar en el día a día y otras un poco más elaboradas como para actividades de tipo más formal.

En mi caso, mi rutina suele ser bastante variadita, pues llevo a mis hijos a sus prácticas, salgo a hacer trámites de trabajo y en ocasiones asistimos a presentaciones en teatros (en el caso de Miranda) por lo que debo tener cierta variedad que se adapte al momento, así que me he hecho unos cuántos y realmente creo que ya debería parar, pero no puedo!!

De hecho, la pieza que les traigo hoy la hice para completar un set que me había hecho semanas atrás. Se trata de dos pulseras armadas en nylon elástico con balines dorados y corales y unos aretes con los mismos materiales, para que hicieran juego, sólo que les sumé una cadena finita que le dió un toque especial.

Y si ustedes me conocen un poco, ya saben que no podía dejarlo hasta ahí y ya que están de moda las gargantillas decidí hacer una como complemento y definitivamente amé el resultado y seguro ustedes también, porque es súper fácil de hacer, necesitan pocos materiales y no tiene nada de complicación.

As you can see you only need three materials for its elaboration and seriously it doesn't require great technique, because we only need to cut the wire with the pliers, close one of the ends with the round pliers (or with any tool you have at your disposal and allows you to do the work) insert the pieces, close and that's it. Those are the only steps we are going to follow. Easy, isn't it?

Como ven sólo necesitan tres materiales para su elaboración y en serio que no requiere gran técnica, pues sólo debemos cortar el alambre con la tenaza, cerrar una de las puntas con la pinza redonda (o con cualquier herramienta que tenga a su disposición y le permita hacer el trababo) introducir las piezas, cerrar y listo. Esos son los únicos pasos que vamos a seguir. Fácil no?

Arrange the materials on the blanket, as well as the tools to be used.

Define the design we are going to work with.

For this I use a ruler or anything that helps me to place the pieces and be able to see how it will look and in this case I decided to cut two pieces of chain of 3cm each, which would be joined together with balls and pieces of coral interspersed, as you can see in the images.

This design would be only for the central part of the choker, since I decided to place only the chain and the clasps to close it. I thought that was more than enough.

Definir el diseño con el que vamos a trabajar.

Para ello yo utilizo una regla o cualquier cosa que me ayude a colocar las piezas y poder apreciar cómo lucirá y en éste caso decidí recortar dos piezas de cadena de 3cm cada una, las cuales estarían unidas entre sí junto a balines y piezas de coral intercalados, como pueden ver en las imágenes.

Éste diseño sería sólo para la parte central de la gargantilla, ya que a los lados decidí colocar únicamente la cadena y los broches para cerrar. Me pareció que con eso era más que suficiente.

Once the design is finished, we proceed to the assembly.

We cut a piece of wire 3cm long and with the round pliers we take the tip and turn it towards us creating a circle.

Then we pass through the wire one of the pellets. I used these rectangular ones (the same ones I used for one of the bracelets). Followed by two corals and again a ball. Close with the round clamp and the center piece is ready.

Finalizado el planteamiento del diseño procedemos al armado.

Recortamos una pieza de alambre de 3cm de largo y con la pinza redonda tomamos la punta y giramos hacia nosotros creando un círculo.

Seguidamente hacemos pasar por el alambre uno de los balines. Yo utilicé éstos de forma rectangular (los mismos que utilicé para una de las pulseras). Le siguen dos corales y nuevamente un balin. Cerramos con la pinza redonda y ya estaría lista la pieza central.

Repeat the procedure with the two pieces that will go on the sides, only this time I used a circular golden ball, a coral and a ball.

Repetimos el procedimiento con las dos piezas que irán a los lados, solo que en ésta oportunidad utilicé un balin circular dorado, un coral y un balin.

We will attach the two pieces to the two 3cm chains that we previously cut. To do this, we just open one of the ends a little, pass the chain through and close it.

Repeat the procedure until you have the two pieces attached to the chains.

Uniremos las dos piezas a las dos cadenas de 3cm que recortamos con anterioridad. Para ello sólo abrimos un poco uno de los extremos, hacemos pasar la cadena y cerraremos.

Repetimos el procedimiento hasta tener las dos piezas unidas a las cadenas.

Next we will join the free ends of the chain to the central piece we made. To do this, we must open each end of our piece, pass the chain through and close it again and the most important part of the choker is ready.

Seguidamente uniremos los extremos libres de la cadena a la pieza central que elaboramos. Para ésto, debemos abrir cada extremo de nuestra pieza, pasar la cadena y volver a cerrar y ya está lista la parte más importante de la gargantilla.

Next, to each end of the piece already made, we will attach the rest of the chain of links. You will do this according to the length you want. In my case, I wanted it well adjusted to the neck, which is how they are usually used, but it is a matter of taste.

A continuación a cada extremo de la pieza ya elaborada, uniremos el restante de la cadena de eslabones. Ésto lo harán según el largo que deseen. En mi caso, la quería bien ajustada al cuello, que es como suelen usarse, pero es cuestión de gustos.

Once this step is finished, we only need to place the clasps and for this we place a ring at one end and at the other end a simple clasp in the shape of a hook that I have shown you how to make in others opportunities.

We connect it to the other end of the chain and with this we finish our choker.

Finalizado éste paso sólo falta colocar los cerradores y para ésto colocamos una argolla en uno de los extremos y en el otro un cerrador sencillo en forma de anzuelo que les he enseñado a elaborar en otras oportunidades.

Conectamos al otro extremo de la cadena y con ésto damos por terminada nuestra gargantilla.

It is a very simple set to make but without a doubt the combination of gold with the coral pieces is simply beautiful and depending on the clothes we decide to wear it with, it can look like a very formal outfit. Honestly I loved it and what I like is that I can wear them together or separately.

For example, the pieces I use the most from the set are the bracelets, especially when I go to the kids practices, in fact I have used them combined with other bracelets, but if I have an outing to the mall I use the whole set.

It will really depend a lot on what we are wearing at the time of the outing and where we are going. For example, the chokers look much better with a shirt that leaves the neck visible, I think it looks much prettier, but of course that depends on the taste of each person.

Es un set bastante sencillo de elaborar pero sin lugar a dudas la combinación del dorado con las piezas de coral es simplemente hermosa y según la ropa con la que decidamos usarla puede verse como un conjunto bastante formal. Sinceramente yo lo amé y lo que me gusta es que puedo usarlas en conjunto o separadas.

Por ejemplo, las piezas que más uso del set son las pulseras, sobre todo cuando voy a las prácticas de los niños, de hecho las he usado combinadas con otras pulseras, pero si tengo una salida al centro comercial utilizo el set completo.

En realidad dependerá mucho de la ropa que estemos usando en el momento de la salida y del lugar al que estemos yendo. Por ejemplo, las gargantillas lucen mucho más con una camisa que deje el cuello visible, me parece se ve mucho más linda, pero por supuesto eso depende del gusto de cada quien.
