I made a maxi dress with puffy designer sleeves for a friend

There is beauty in simplicity, don't you think so as well, Mary is a good friend of mine, but since I've known her, she has always been a lover of maxi dresses, she is in her early 20s and I've always adored her for her modesty even in her prime.

I thought getting admitted into the university was going to have an effect a change on her chosen style of dressing but no, it didn't, which made me admire her the more. She recently accompanied me to the market to get some sewing supplies, we were exiting the market when we spotted this beautiful fabric, she admired it, and i could see the sincere admiration in her eyes, while she felt the fabric in her hands, it's a light crepe fabric, she wished she could make a dress with it, but she didn't have enough funds with her anymore to get the fabric as she also got some school supplies for herself, she would be leaving for school in few days time, so I opted to get it, since I still had a few change left, she literally jumped for joy, haha, it always gladdens my heart when I can help in times like this, without being told, I know the dress she has in mind is another maxi dress, one of the perks of having a friend who is a seamstress, I told her to send me her desired style, and I started working on the dress. It is a very simple to make dress, and I am happy to share with you all the process of making.

Cutting and sewing process

  • It is an offshoulder like dress with full puffy sleeves, to start making the dress, I first cut the down part of the dress in flare form, by dividing her waist circumference by 3.14, and also determined the length

  • Next, I cut out the front and back pattern of the dress using an off shoulder pattern,

  • Continuing, I made some pleats on the chest area of the front pattern after which I turned the front and back pattern with its lining.

  • next, I joined the front and back pattern together by the sides, and this is going to be the upper side of the dress.

  • I also cut out the sleeves pattern, and sewed an elastic before the hem to form a flare,

What a beautiful dress! I love those puffy sleeves. You are an amazing seamstress and I like how you say that it's easy to make a dress while for people like me it would be an impossible task 😂

It's a really beautiful dress!!! God bless your hands and your talent, so you can keep creating more beautiful pieces 💗🙏🏻
