Almost everything is expensive now; to get your cravings at a cheap cost is a war, as people no longer eat what they desire but what they see. Food and fruits should be one of the cheapest things to get in any country, but no, they are the most expensive in some cases, but why? That's a question no one has an answer to. I've always loved to try new things right from my childhood, and that has contributed greatly to my life and growth. This was part of the factors that fuelled my passion for crocheting, and I can say I am beginning to love it more daily. Recently, I made a headband for my baby sister, and she loved it. She had been wearing it ever since I gave it to her.

I am a lover of good food. I don't eat much, but the little I do, I make sure I satisfy my cravings. The outside world is filled with several people trying to make money legally or illegally. This is why one must be careful of what one eats, especially in all these restaurants or cafeterias where one has no idea of how they are prepared. Some months ago, I decided to give myself a baby girl's treatment by getting shawarma from one of the supposed good restaurants around my residential area, and I was greatly disappointed.

I was given raw flour with a shallow filling in it; I saw just two pieces of chicken and one sausage in a shawarma worth ₦3,500. I was shocked as well as surprised as I held it in my hand after I got home, aiming to enjoy what I paid so much for, but the reverse was the case. I couldn't eat it because the raw flour used in making the dough tasted awful, and my stomach always gets upset at the sight of anything unfavourable to my body; this is part of the reason I don't eat outside. I wasted such an amount because I couldn't eat it, and I had to throw it out.

Just yesterday, I was craving shawarma, and this is me who believes I can do anything if I give it a try. I jotted down what I needed, and I headed to the store near my house. I got the shawarma bread, chicken breast, cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise, and sausage. I wanted to add bell pepper, but then they are so expensive, and I have to cut my coat according to my size, so I skipped it.

I prepared my chicken, grated both the cabbage and carrot, mixed it with mayonnaise, but because I'm a Yoruba lady who loves the taste of pepper in anything I eat, I added a little pepper paste to it. It's yummy, I must say. I fried my sausages lightly, and I began adding my fillings into the bread, placed them in my nonstick frying pan to warm, and voila! My homemade shawarma is ready to be eaten.
