Anchored love / Amor anclado

The month of love is coming to an end and many creative contents have been registered on our blockchain. I would like to close this cycle of 28 days with something related to the theme that February is related to worldwide.

The decoration of a love-themed organiser that will accompany me in my work office I am going to share with you today, as I will soon start again in my workplace.

Termina el mes del amor y muchos son los contenidos creativos que se han registrado en nuestra blockchain. Quisiera cerrar este ciclo de 28 días con algo relacionado con el tema que mundialmente se relaciona febrero.

La decoración de un organizador con temática del amor que me acompañará en mi oficina de trabajo voy a compartirles hoy, ya que pronto recomenzaré en mi centro laboral.

It's only 30 days to the one year anniversary of the birth of my little baby... time goes so fast, don't you think? After this time, I will return to my job after this maternity break.

Preparing for my return to work is something I have to do, so I made myself an organiser which I decorated thinking about what I wanted to be with me during the time I was away from home: my family.

My inspiration comes from today's suggestion from the Discord programme: Talent Meeting: Anchors, a brake for the future.

It is true that there are anchors that one throws oneself and prevents us from moving forward; but today I want to talk about that anchor that banishes all the heaviness and dragging: **The family anchor, which is the force that makes everything possible, no matter how difficult it may seem.

Below I share the process of making my handicraft with the tools and materials I had at home.

Faltan solo 30 días para que se cumpla un año del nacimiento de mi pequeña bebé... el tiempo va muy rápido, ¿no creen? Pasado este tiempo, regresaré a retomar mi puesto laboral tras esta pausa de la maternidad.

Prepararme para la reincorporación es algo que debo ir haciendo, así que me hice un organizador el cual decoré pensando en lo que quería que me acompañara durante el tiempo que estaba lejos de casa: mi familia.

Mi inspiración llega a través de la en la sugerencia para el día de hoy del programa de Discord: Encuentro de Talentos: Anclas, un freno para el futuro.

Es cierto que hay anclas que uno mismo lanza y nos impide avanzar; pero hoy quiero exponer sobre esa ancla que hace desterrar todas las pesadumbres y arrastres: el ancla familiar que es la fuerza que hace posible todo por difícil que parezca.

A continuación comparto el proceso de realización de mi manualidad con las herramientas y materiales que tenía en casa.

• A pen or pencil.
• A piece of cardboard.
• A pair of scissors.
• White thread.
• Mustard thread.
• Scrap of blue stretch denim (recycled from trouser legs).
• A piece of red fibre cloth.
• An empty cardboard container.

• Un lápiz o bolígrafo.
• Un pedazo de cartulina.
• Una tijera.
• Hilo blanco.
• Hilo mostaza.
• Recorte de tela mezclilla elastizada azul (reciclada de las patas de un pantalón).
• Un pedazo de tela de fibra roja.
• Un envase vacío de cartón.

On the cardboard I drew a picture of an anchor (half of it). I marked it on the fabric and mirrored it to make it as symmetrical as possible.

Sobre la cartulina realicé un dibujo de un ancla (la mitad). Lo marqué sobre la tela y le hice un mirror para que saliera lo más simétrico posible.

I threaded the needle with double thread (so that the stitch will have 4 passes of thread) and filled the anchor figure with this thread filling.

Ensarté la aguja con hilo doble (de forma tal que la puntada quedará con 4 pases del hilo) y fui rellenando la figura del ancla con este relleno de hilo.

I cut out a heart in the red fabric (I folded the fabric to make the cut, looking for symmetry in the result).

Recorté un corazón en el tejido rojo (doblé la tela para hacer el corte, buscando simetría en el resultado).

I positioned the cut-out heart above the anchor and attached it to the fabric with scallop stitch.

Ubiqué el corazón recortado por encima del ancla y lo fijé a la tela con puntada festón.

With three lengths of mustard-coloured thread I made a braid and attached it to the heart and the anchor (simulating that they are tied together by a rope). Then I arranged this "rope" (tying knots every so often) and attached it to the fabric at some points.

Con tres tramos de hilo color mostaza hice una trenza y lo fijé al corazón y al ancla (simulando que están amarrados por una cuerda). Luego acomodé esta "cuerda" (haciendo nudos cada cierto tramo) y la fijé en algunos puntos a la tela.

Once the fabric decoration work was finished, I turned the fabric inside out and took the width of the container. I cut and sewed the fabric with a backstitch. I marked the required length of the container and cut it.

Terminado el trabajo de decoración de la tela, di vuelta a la tela y tomé el ancho del envase. Corté y cosí la tela con puntada atrás. Marqué el largo que necesitaba del recipiente y lo corté.

With the cover already made, all that's left is to turn it right side out and mount it on the container. As the fabric is stretchy, I didn't need to hem it, I folded it inwards and as it fits well, it doesn't move easily.

Con la funda ya elaborada, solo queda virar al derecho y montar sobre el envase. Como la tela es elastizada no necesité hacer dobladillo, sino que doblé hacia adentro y como ajusta bien, no se mueve con facilidad.

My family, the source of my daily inspiration and drive, is the most important thing in my life. My family (the heart), the rope is the feeling that leads me to always have them with me and the anchor is the stability, the presence, the permanence and the firmness that they will always stay there, despite any turbulence that may occur on this blue sea.

Mi familia, motivo de mi inspiración e impulso diario, es lo más importante en mi vida. Mi familia (el corazón), la cuerda es el sentimiento que me lleva a tenerlos siempre conmigo y el ancla es la estabilidad, la presencia, la permanencia y la firmeza de que se quedarán siempre ahí, pese a toda turbulencia que pueda o ocurrir sobre este mar azul.
