Good afternoon Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Greater Hivelandia!

It's a cold and blustery Sunday here in the great Pacific Northwest; a cold rain falls and a stiff wind blows — the autumn leaves are dancing across our lawn and so I am grateful to just watch from my warm comfy spot by the window.

Hi! What have you got?

Today we're actually going to dedicate the Curator Cat post to my furry roommate Smudge!

Yesterday, the Hoomans went on their shopping expedition to the nearby town, and aside from coming home with cat food and cat treats, they also brought a surprise: A new bed for Smudge!

Smudge has several favorite sleeping spots, but most of the time she just takes up residence on a soft blanket overlooking the hallway and stairwell, where she's close to her food and can see the comings and goings.

Pretty nice!

With winter coming, the Hoomans decided that she really needed a proper snuggy bed to get into and so that was one of the new acquisitions from the great world of Walmart.

Of course we cats are pretty particular about where we sleep, so when you introduce new sleeping spots and blankets and such into our environment we aren't always going to take to them, right away.

Still liking it, the morning after!

However, Smudge loves her new bed! It took her only a few minutes for her to get into it and she's been dozing very peacefully there ever since last night… well, with a few exceptions to come out and have some snacks and food and to get her ears scratched.

Although she is very comfortable here, she's also somewhat shy and mostly prefers to just be left alone.

It's nice that we were able to make her as comfortable as we are!

Meanwhile...

It's a pretty peaceful afternoon here at our place. I've been helping the Dad-Hooman with his artwork... which usually entails trying to lie down under his nice warm work lamp in the middle of what he's doing!

I'm not quite sure why he keeps pushing me out of the way though… everybody knows that creativity is best done with the help of a cat!

You'd think he'd learned that, by now!

And that's about it for today so I'll end this with a quick reminder to everyone — and particularly those of you who have Black Cats in your lives — that tomorrow is Halloween and for the safety of everybody, please do keep your Black Cats inside the house on Halloween because there are strange and creepy Hoomans out there who subscribe to old superstitions that may even end up hurting a cat for no reason other than it is black.

Last, but certainly not least, a special shoutout to the Hive Pets Community which has become quite active and typically has quite a bit of cat content!

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
