Recently there was an initiative at Hive Blockchain regarding our financial goals in 2021. Many widely circulated the initiative and I strongly believe that it is a good idea to have a financial goal in life for everyone. Some of us were having a discussion around it today which I felt was quite relevant. Before I get into the discussion, I urge all the readers to try and write a financial goal for 2021 and beyond. Do not do it for the contest, please do it for your own benefit.

Often there is a common thought that circulate around hive that why are we here. With many major crypto rallying in price and Hive is dragging along the bottom, it is often hard to keep the moral up and chin high. We can’t control price. This is a fact. What we can control is ourselves. I never thought Hive a profit-making engine for myself. Although I understand that many others did, and few are still doing it. That is perfectly fine, if it is not hurting others. When I look at the current global economy and see the role of blockchain based social network especially in the light of developing countries, I see several benefits and possibilities. Some of it is already happening even with these low prices. I see several skills are actively improving for a whole bunch of people:

  1. Content making skills: Writing, Video editing, Photography, Art, and Presentation
  2. Organization of thoughts
  3. Communication skills, especially with strangers
  4. Financial acumen, both personal finance and crypto currency
  5. Trading skills
  6. Business management skills
  7. Knowledge of the Web 3.0 and gig economy
  8. Micro-finance

I am sure I am missing some, but my goal is not to make a comprehensive list. My goal is to show and have a discussion on what Hive is doing for your behind the scenes other than generating a small amount of income for you on your content creation. I will argue, the amount is not small for some of the successful creators, not just Hive in general, but more specific to this community. There are people in BDCommunity whose primary source of income is Hive and Hive related businesses.

Critical point is, even if we forget about that for a minute (hive-based income that is) the other benefits outweighs the time devoted by individuals on this platform. Today I learned one of our own got a job as a content writer for an IT company. Writing many posts on Hive in English, which is not a first language for many, helps develop this individual’s writing skills. If this is not a direct benefit, I don’t know what is!

2020 was a strange year which I think will change the global economy and how people work and earn a living permanently. Working remotely is and will continue to be an accepted form of work. In remote working environment, digital communication is a key. Spending time on hive and discord is helping people to get accustomed to the new norm. Due to the same reason, there will be fewer people needed at the work force, so there will be fewer jobs. People need to think about alternative ways to earn a living, which is the core concept of the ‘gig economy’. Ultimately, our goal is to strive towards a Financial Independence. That simply means that an individual does not have to worry about money for their day to day activities. I suggest everyone should think about that and formulate a plan on how to get there.

His eyes welled up when I was talking to him. The two of us met five years later. I was almost aghast to see a person moaning unexpectedly who was always grinning. I had no words to solace him because I could speculate the reason of weeping. I did not stop him, whimpering in particular helps to alleviate human suffering. What is the harm if this sob obliterates some terrible memories of his life?

Polash played badminton very well; he and I won a lot of doubles matches in our neighborhood. His dream was to one day be the best badminton player in the country. He may not have comprehended that his dream would be shattered so horribly. Traditionally about 90% of the men in our area live abroad in search of livelihood, his case was no exception. The parents sold the land and sent him to the Middle East with thousands of fantasies. Polash's workplace is in an air-conditioned hospital in the Middle East.
Personally I don’t like horror films. But he was telling intriguing stories with so much interest and passion so I listened to the story despite not wanting to. It would be unfair to call it an anecdote because it is an awful fact that transpired in his life. His father used to tell stories to everyone that despite being so hot in the Middle East, his son works in the air conditioned room all the time. They believed and delivered the way Polash explained them, in fact he said nothing about what actually he does there.

Yes, he is a doorman of the morgue, and that's a night guard job. What could be a worse job than guarding a group of dead people all the time? His experience of recognizing dead people in the last five years is definitely as thrilling as horror film. Someone's face is crooked due to a stroke, someone is strangled to death, terrorists cut someone's throat, someone's face is burnt in the fire, thousands of bodies like that are kept there.
Polash came to the country on a two-month furlough. In winter, boys still play badminton regularly. The two of us were sitting a little away from the badminton court. I noticed that Polash was staring at the constantly moving cork on the badminton court with blank eyes, his mind may have stuck elsewhere. His once favorite game no longer touches him as much for the sake of responsibilities and duties of the family.

I was shocked to touch the hand of my friend sitting next to me because his hand is as cold as a dead man's. Polash chuckled at me and said; don't be afraid, I am not the ghost of the morgue, I am still alive. He smiled a little longer and said let's play badminton as we played earlier. As I walked towards the badminton court I wondered how much we are sacrificing to make our family blissful in order to endure this short life. Polash's family presumably know that he has a good job in a reputed hospital in UAE but in reality no one know that the coldness of the morgue has taken away all the warmth of his youth.

In the early days of cinema when cinema hadn’t sprouted as a new art form yet and there were no clear rules or methods of cinema—many were using video cameras to capture broadway, theatres, street shows or any significant world event.

Think of one such creation. When you capture a theatre performance, there are actors in it, a narrative story, dialogues and all that. When you view that later, you see characters moving around, acting. It’s much like a motion picture. But does it automatically become cinema? If not, what makes cinema different?

Béla Balázs, one of the influential film critic argued that— to be film and distinct from photographed theatre, the creative work maintains these rules:

One, the film has variable distances from the spectator for the same scene, which theatre obviously does not. The variable distance of the same scene is used to create composition that ultimately turns into cinema later on.
Two, a film divides up a scene into multiple sections or shots. Again, theatre has no business doing this.
Three, a film changes angles in the same scene, which is also used to create shots.
And four, montage—the art of juxtaposing unrelated shots to create related meaning.

So, photographic reproduction of theatre, despite looking similar to cinema, is fundamentally different not only in expressions and theme but also in the form.

Time! There is 24 hours in a day. If you have nothing to do then it is very long to pass but if your are engaged in something then it moves faster then all other things.

Engagement with our loved one is also such a thing which takes our all time to get busy with that. While we are on a relationship we won't be able to count how does time fly with that person. Everything on our life sometime makes a circle around that person. Many fall in such a way that it becomes very hard to get out of the circle and think of anything else.Starting from our daily routine to our future goals are based on mutual understanding and dreams. We try to set up our goals as our mutual preferences. We try to work on our dreams together. In a sentence both of them loves to live in their own world of dreams to come true.

But do you know what happens when one of them get vanished in the midway all on a sudden? A major hindrance to the other one. Starting from his daily routine to his career goals seems to look gloomy. The person with whom his day starts and ends is no more. No more 'good morning' messages after waking up in the morning. No more 'good night' messages to remind him that it is time to go to sleep. Everything seems to be messy and scattered.

But another thing to bear in mind that time is the best healer. Everything gets healed with the flow of time. New habits and dreams will be made sooner or later. New routines and ways to reach the career goals will be made. Everything takes time so the pains will take too in order to heal. So take time, trust me it is the best healer.

The online world is vast and wide; no news or information stays held back anymore. The days when we'd be waiting for the newspapers in the mornings are over. Nowadays we have separate online newspapers and news channels updating us about recent events almost immediately. These are different times, unlike the times before.

Is this some sort of nostalgia or defining the pros and cons of newspaper, printed, and online? No, it's not; and neither a comparison between the two. It's more of how technology has evolved. Choosing one between them is a mere preference.

There was a time when news floated around anywhere, yes, the dark ages. But the gazettes and bulletins were there but as time went on the need for information rose. Then came newspaper, and with that came more information at our disposal; our ancestors' disposal to be correct.

And now the time has come when we don't rely on the newspapers anymore to deliver us timely information. Almost, gone are the days when we wake up in the morning and read newspapers while having a cup of tea or coffee. Some get nostalgic about the feeling that paper gives; holding it in their hands and turning the pages one at a time or jumping to the favorite sections.

Nowadays, we swipe through the news, we choose to read what sort of news we want to, scroll up and down. We can even read older articles, and as I have said, new information gets added every minute, but some information also gets deleted and some gets buried deep within, out of our reach.

I wasn't meaning to make you nostalgic; my point is simple, the future. In 100 years from now, things will be much different. Whether you like it or not, the flow of information and the medium will be changed. Change has ever been constant and that is something that you can count on.

Instructions to Get Featured

This here is our piece de resistance. To promote engagement and a little self-branding, we have come up with an initiative that we simply called Featured. And we are very excited about this portion of the magazine.

Every week, one talented author will have the opportunity to contribute a piece for the magazine while showcasing one of their best posts. The willing writers will have a chance to add a few words about any topic they choose and be a 25% beneficiary of the magazine.

How to Get Featured

The first step is, you have to decide whether you want to get featured or not. Once you've made up your mind, you have to apply by submitting one of your articles from last week. We have a wiggle room for quality content if they are older than seven days. Choose the piece you deem to be your best work for the week, as this will play a significant role in you getting featured or not.

Application Window

There will be a two-day period to submit your application. It must be submitted by dropping a link to your post in the #Featured-Magazine channel on the BDCommunity Discord Server. One author will be chosen randomly from all the submissions. The featured author for the week will be announced during the weekly voice meeting. They will then have two days for writing a piece and submit.

The author who gets featured in the weekly magazine will be set as a 25% beneficiary, meaning 25% of the magazine's liquid payout will go to the featured author.

Do not forget to join our next weekly hangout at Friday 10 pm GMT +6

@deepu7 Its Horrible. May Allah give him courage.
In the area next to where I live, from every house, one of the family lives abroad. It started when they realise that if someone go abroad, can earn a better income than the own country. I have a relative there, he went to Lebanon for search of livelihood, came home after 13 years. I spoke to him, he shared with me his experience of living in Lebanon. Listening his experience, I could imagine a war movie. It was 2008 Lebanon war. It was a terrible situation for him, he was starving for 6 days, stuck in room. There was no way to communicate with anyone. he never shared his nightmare experience with anyone in his family. He could have died in that war, but by the grace of Allah, he is still alive. And he’s back in Lebanon again and is fine.

We are also happy to see you contributing in the turni.

The story you mentioned is very common scenario around us. These remittance fighters works there and faces all the hardship alone and in the end of the day there happy faces to make the family peace.

Turni is getting interesting every week. I am learning from each of the features. Iam really impressed that you guys are writing with passion, strength and spreading positivity. I do believe the world needs more positivity like this.

Keep continue ✨

Yeah it is overcoming our expectations one after another. Hope it will continue to do so in the coming days too.

Stay with us.
