My secondborn's kindergarten invited all of us to an open house to celebrate Hari Raya together. Knowing my son was going to perform, it became a must-go for all of us in the family.
For me to slot in something unusual out of the usual routine, I always needed to work backwards and do the planning earlier, including abiding by a certain timing for our youngest baby who still needs her nap.
It was a lot of brain work and mental load but it was worth it! We had a blast and most importantly, the secondborn exclaimed, "That was so much fun at school! I thought it was going to be a bad day but it was the best day ever!"
We arrived 5 minutes late after the baby napped later. I changed her nicely into her mini kebaya, a traditional Malay attire, before her nap to save some time.
Didn't she look so adorable in it?
Then while she was napping, I got changed and got myself ready.
When we reached, we realized the school was full with crowds. So many people were seen everywhere.
The son's best friend in school was already waiting for him so he went off to play in the playground with his best friend.
We went around to check out the light refreshments.
While waiting for everyone to eat and arrive, we took photos everywhere, since we were asked to dress in Malay traditional clothes.
The school even set up like a photobooth for us to take photos at.
We caught up with some friends too whose children also study at the same school.
Finally at 515pm, the teachers called out for the students to queue up for their Raya songs performance. Honestly, I was very anxious and nervous for my son because he pulled out before in his last performance. He told me the night before he was going to do it this time because he loves the songs they were performing.
And HE DID IT! I am so immensely proud of him!!!!
He went to his grandma and she was congratulating him for doing it well.
All of these accomplished in less than 2 hours, which I was very glad of. The husband needed to rush to work after that so we reached home by 6pm, even earlier than expected.
