Greetings to everyone and welcome back to Wrestling Organization Online, WOO.
At WrestlersMania Rhodes was announced as the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Pretty cool, isn’t it?
Then on RAW The Rock shows up and says their story’s just starting. This made me think about whether Cody would retain the title until he faces off with The Rock.
Thus, according to Dave Meltzer: “It’s not for sure”. For instance, they wanted Roman Reigns to hold onto the belt and then feud with Hollywood star, Dwayne Johnson.
On the other hand for Cody it is not clear. Therefore, Cody might lose his title before facing The Rock. Wow!
But wait! What about AJ Styles? He’s coming after Cody’s championship at Backlash. Last night at SmackDown Live in a triple threat match AJ won his shot.
Namely; he now has to go through LA Knight so that he gets a chance against Cody; this is what they call motivation right here! I can understand why AJ is fired up; who wouldn’t want to go after this big prize?
As for me, I have mixed feelings. First, it would be great if Cody retains the title until he faces The Rock.
That will step up their match to another level. On the other hand, maybe it is better that Cody loses before then. This will bring a lot of surprises and changes.
Cody still has a long way to go whichever way you look at it. Successfully defending against AJ or LA Knight will not be a stroll in the park. But hey, isn’t that what being champion is all about? It’s about taking on anyone who wants to test oneself as the best.
Besides, we cannot forget how much of an icon The Rock is without any argument whatsoever among fans. For any wrestler, facing him is like a dream comes true. That said though, should Cody lose before getting hold of him again?
A showdown with or without the title still makes sense.
That’s why I am thrilled to know what happens next. Will Cody remain as champion? Will he drop it ahead of his meeting with The Rock? And who will win at Backlash between AJ and LA Knight?
Only time can answer this question but one thing is certain: it’s going to be a heck of a ride.
