Observa Piensa Escribe: El Motorizado Ejemplar ESP/ENG

Hace tiempo tuve la oportunidad de conocer a un hombre que hacía carreritas de aquí para allá en su moto. Era muy bueno, me permitió llegar a mi lugar de destino a tiempo incontables veces.

Él siempre estaba disponible para llevarme a donde se lo pidiera, nunca respondía con comentarios negativos poniendo un pero para hacerme saber que era muy lejos a donde iba a o que debía pasar por algún lugar con mucho tráfico.

Con su actitud positiva siempre me dio a entender que le gustaba su trabajo, le gustaba lo que hacía y también se andaba con cuidado, controlando su velocidad de manera adecuada, no iba ni muy rápido ni muy lento. Transmitía seguridad al pasajero mientras manejaba.

Que un motorizado hiciera esto, era algo fuera de lo común, ya que generalmente ellos manejan como alma que lleva el diablo, o mejor dicho como si no hubiera nadie en el camino más que ellos y su moto, así como también los huecos en las calles no existieran.

Así que este motorizado en particular que me hacía las carreritas en cualquier día que lo necesitara, era especial por su forma de conducir y por hacerme sentir segura mientras iba con él.

En una de esas tantas veces que me llevó de un lugar a otro, le pregunté por qué trabajaba de motorizado y no ahorraba para comprarse un carro y así ganaría más dinero, tal vez haciendo viajes de una ciudad a otra.

Él me respondió muy amablemente, que lo hacía no por el dinero, sino por honrar la memoria de su hermano, quien falleció en un accidente automovilístico por no cuidarse al ir en su moto. Este chocó con un carro en medio de la noche por manejar de manera imprudente con un pasajero, (porque también trabajaba de mototaxista) y además no cuidarse a sí mismo y a su pasajero con el uso del casco.

Yo quedé impactada con la respuesta, la verdad no me lo esperaba. Luego de una larga pausa incómoda continuó con su respuesta: Desde que perdí a mi hermano decidí hacer ley de vida dar el ejemplo con el uso adecuado de la moto, llevando sanos y salvos a mis transeúntes a su lugar de destino. No pude salvarle la vida a mi hermano, pero si puedo dar el ejemplo a otros para que se cuiden o lleguen a salvo a donde deben llegar.

A while ago, I had the opportunity to meet a man who used to race here and there on his motorcycle. He was very good, allowing me to get to my destination on time countless times.

He was always available to take me wherever I asked him to. He never responded with negative comments, just a "but" to let me know that I was going too far or that I had to go through a busy area.

With his positive attitude, he always made it clear that he liked his job, that he liked what he did, and that he also drove carefully, controlling his speed appropriately, neither going too fast nor too slow. He instilled confidence in his passengers while driving.

For a motorcyclist to do this was out of the ordinary, since they generally drive like the devil himself, or rather, as if there were no one on the road but them and their motorcycle, and as if potholes in the streets didn't exist.

So this particular motorcyclist, who gave me rides any day I needed him, was special because of his driving style and because he made me feel safe while I was with him.

On one of the many times he drove me from one place to another, I asked him why he worked as a motorcyclist and didn't save up to buy a car so he could earn more money, perhaps traveling from one city to another.

He very kindly replied that he did it not for the money, but to honor the memory of his brother, who died in a car accident due to his lack of safety while riding his motorcycle. He crashed into a car in the middle of the night for driving recklessly with a passenger (because he also worked as a motorcycle taxi driver) and for not protecting himself and his passenger by wearing a helmet.

I was shocked by his response; I honestly didn't expect it. After a long, awkward pause, he continued with his answer: Since I lost my brother, I decided to make it a rule of life to set an example with the proper use of the motorcycle, taking my pedestrians safely to their destinations. I couldn't save my brother's life, but I can set an example for others to take care of themselves or arrive safely where they need to go.
