My today.s story is also about inconveniences, but about health issues.
It goes like this:
my side
- first, symptoms appeared; did not pay attention to them, thought slight sweating during the night and extreme fatigue have something to do with wild weather changes
- then decided that is not weather since next few days I have spent mostly in bad, being tired of even smal physical activity and during the night had to wake up and change all wet PJs at least once
- then food sickness and stomach problems, gallon of water daily and pain in the eyes, all that with borderline fever (around 37)
- then did the rapid test that showed negative but blood test showed positive for antibodies
- then talked privately to a doctor which said those are some of the most usual omicron symptoms
- then decided is better to stay in bed then waiting for hours in front of the public corona office; instead sick leave, I took some days of vacation that are left from previous year.
health care system part
- public health service is the only one allowed to give you sick leave, if corona is proven then 100% of the salary, otherwise, 35% less, like usual
- waiting in lines for hours, outside in the cold, to be tested
- why doing that when for some money you can be tested without waiting and somewhere close to home? because private labs are not allowed to do PCR which is main test for approving sick leave
- after getting positive result in the private lab, you need to go again to public corona offices to verify test so you can get sick leave and they need to test you again with same rapid test bcs not allowed to accept private tests. Then, if you test negative, you need to be tested again with PCR if again negative, even with obvious symptoms, for which doctors themselves say are corona/omicron, based on more than 150 patients daily, you are pronounced clean of corona.
I have talked with more than dozen people who were persistent enough to do rapid tests in private labs until proving positive; some of them tested 3, some 4 times, which is even what lab staff says is happening all the time, different day, different result.

So, some questions are left unanswered here, and I.m sure you already thought wtf.
Tests are discriminatory, yes, turned out, very >:/ In some other circumstances, ability of tests to make discrimination between people into two or more categories is something that good tests do. In this case, they are making discrimination on health and socio-economical base: you can be sick but treated as not bcs test says so, just I am not sure what doctors write in their reports when giving diagnosis and medications; many people cannot afford testing more than once, if even that, which can bring them false results, not to mention if you need to test whole family. Then one decides to go to public doctor, get negative results, and continue going to work or take sick leave with lower income. No one is going to take you in public offices for daily testing to prove positive.
Why they are using tests that are not reliable? And when using them, why they are not treated the same, rapid is rapid no matter what lab did it? And if they serve for something, why retest with PCR? How to explain that PCR shows negative with the person in hospital, on oxygen, with both-sided pneumonia?
Why private labs are not allowed to do PCR?
WTF those people are doing?! We are already in mess for two years, now making more of it because...it became boring and repetitive?
I don.t blame doctors, as they say, we have orders and protocols and under big pressure to comply.
Do you remember good old flu? No one went for testing, dg was just on the base of clinical picture.
Now, some may argue that sym of corona are different every time...ok, there is truth in that, but not all sym are different and as I mentioned, huge number of sick people can give doctors better cues about infection then tests, obviously. For test, one needs to guess the right day, like the lottery...
If someone can find some logic in this please let me know, I cannot. Beside that everything is done on purpose to confuse us even more and focus our attention from something else and collect some more money for tests ofc; none of this goes without some material benefits for those who are making decisions.

This whole reliance on unreliable tests is absurd, diagnosis should always consider whole clinical picture not just one test, like it was before corona, get well soon :)

oh, I am so sorry you are going through this corona thing and all the inconveniences aroung taking the test. So a test from a private lab is not accepted, so why they exist then? I am not sure, don't want to give a false information, but I think that it is the same here as well. That one has to do the test in the public health center to be "recognized" as an official one, so sick leave can be allowed.
well, it is not the nicest way you could use some free days :/ but if it was the best option... Btw, how do you feel? Are you getting a bit better? Do the cats behave well at least? :D

Yes, I feel better, but still have symptoms but seems that will have to ignore them since form the next week hellish time is about to start: kids preparing for PISA, high school graduation tests, Year concerts, final exams, plus we got new pupil that came from Italy and does not speak Serbian, that is a looot individualization.

Good you are better, do not think now about the school, pupils, exams, etc. Please! But I know, I know, I would do the same...
New students that don't speak the language. Often here is the case, but at least, if they are coming from Norway or The Netherlands, they do speak English, so I slowly introduce them to some Spanish words every here and there and also with other children they get used.
If individual lessons, well we stay forever with English 😂

I would like not to thing but there is so many things to prepare in advance parallel with doing everyday tasks, so everything can go as smooth as possible when time comes for big actions :/
She is taking private lessons for Sr, problem is that her English is also not good, very basic level, so even what she have learned, is difficult to say. Luckily, we have teacher who speaks Italian very well, already announced that she will be used as translator :)

Well, that sounds like a good plan, to be prepared in advance! You are doing very well actually, as then, in the certain moment, you will be ready as much as you could be.
It is the opposite of procrastination. I so much like to procrastinate, but then I feel the struggle. But if I prepare the worksheets in advance and know what we will work with the students the next week or lesson, then it is another story.
{anyway, I still like to procrastinate 🤣} ... to some extent :)

o my god! wtf! That is a truly horrible situation you are in! Agree, science is a good foundation, but indeed, those who deal with scientific information may not be trusted all the time. In my country, private labs do a bit more professional approach to testing, but they use the same/similar tests like we can get done ourselves at home. No PCR as well. That said, we can get a PCR test the same day or the next day and don't have to queue, we make an appointment. In/Out in like minutes. Also, in my country, sick leave is 100% paid, full stop. I think that makes it easier in our system. Still thinking about your story while writing and am a little in shock at how it is all arranged in your country. WTF!

I m not sure which country, but it sounds familiar.
In Nigeria, a reliable test from any private hospital should suffice as with symptoms.
Tee test with rapid kits are not specific. There can be false positives and false negatives. We call them errors. But it doesn't stop us from using them either.
You see, they are only screening tests. In a situation where pcr is not affordable or available, the Drs can merge a negative or positive Result and make a conclusion with it.
A repeat is also often considered if symptoms are glaring.
We still need them because not everyone may get a pcr done.
Some people even forge positive results over here and go free. Thats how bad thongs can be here.

Sure, even best tests can be false in some situations, not to mention those rapid. I agree that they have some value, but only if used in a proper way. If used like this with corona, they make more harm than good, confusing drs and patients, making wrong kind of discrimination.
