Can We Recover?

Sometimes our shortcomings and past holds us back from actually moving forward in life. It holds us back through trauma, past failures, past disappointments, past hurt and pain or past mistakes. All these make us feel lost, and empty with no direction of what to do next which will inevitably generate into stagnation. Then you hear some people say, I am yet to achieve my goals, I don't know what to do next with my life, or I can't seem to get past my challenges.

Can we recover? Can we actually get past and heal from our past shortcomings and mistakes so we can make it through in life? There is a saying I came up with, ’The past is only a burden, the present is the pathfinder’. This means dwelling on our past mistakes or shortcomings can hold us back. Instead, we should focus on the present to make headway in life. The present makes the past.

I was listening to a song titled Recover by Ruelle. She is an American electronic pop writer. The world came to know her music when her song titled ’This is the hunt’ was used as the theme song of ’ShadowsHunters’ TV series. I also came to love her songs when I watched this series. I fell in love with her voice and songs. She is an amazing artist because her songs always carry strong messages and are all created from strong themes.

So the song ’Recover’ is about how past shortcomings, mistakes, traumas, hurt or pain can withhold one from moving on in life. It also portrays a strong message of how one can be resilient and persistent during difficulties or challenges even when one is feeling empty, unfulfilled and low.

Can we recover?
Can we get over things?
Are we too deep in the night to see the day?
Can we recover?
Can we get over things?
Are we too frozen inside to feel the flame?

Ruelle questions if we can recover, if we can heal, if we can put the past behind us to find purpose and fulfillment in life. Regardless of the trauma, pain, hurt, or challenge we might have faced, can we actually start over, heal and not let the past make us too frozen that we can’t feel the hot flame of progress life has installed for us.

This song inspires me to always make sure to deal with any past challenges, shortcomings, mistakes, pain and trauma. It encourages me to heal, It encourages me to forgive myself first, learn from any mistakes that have been made, but to never forget my lessons so I won't be repeating the same mistakes.

Also, this song reminds me to always know and have it at the back of my mind that it is not over for me in life, I still have things to experience in life, good things and that I can always start over regardless if any challenges that has occured in the past.

There was a time I was feeling low, I was thinking that my life was on pause, and I was believing that I wasn't moving forward with life. Overall, I was feeling unfulfilled but I remember this song. I began to listen to it over and over again. I was reminded that I needed to take a deep breath, I needed to open my eyes to see the good things around, I needed to look within myself to know what is making me feel that way and then, I discovered I was feeling that way of a past trauma I never confronted, never healed from.

I started to work on it, taking baby steps and today I can say that I am halfway there. I am halfway to putting it behind me and this journey of healing has revealed a lot of things I have to deal with to be the best version of myself. Don't bury that past pain, hurt, trauma, or mistakes. Bring it out. Work on it so that one day, you don't drown in them when triggered.

Can we recover? Can we get past whatever is holding us back from moving forward in life? Can we also start over? I hope when you listen to this song, it will inspire you like it did for me.

Ah, so Ruelle is the artist behind this fine song! I love her song used as opening theme for Shadow Hunters series.

Your piece is deep and thought-provoking. Some experiences have a way of shaping our lives, good or bad and it's totally up to us. And yes, I concur that we can recover, no matter how deep the hurt or trauma. It will take time no doubt but determination to recover must come from within! I'm glad you found the inner strength to rise up. Inspiring! Thanks for sharing. !LADY 💕

Yes we can always recover.
It might not be so easy, but it attainable. And that's all that matters. Just like you have suggested, we can always put our past behind and look forward to the future. Thank you so much @esther-emmanuel. This is an amazing theme, and I am certain someone out there needed to hear these words
