I see what @appukuttan66 is referring to. That information is out of date. Mining on "the other blockchain" and by extension on this blockchain also was removed back during hardforks 17/18. There is no more PoW mining. It can be done through PoS using Resources Credits. I claimed an Account Creation Token earlier today using that process.

Oh....account creation tokens. I thought steem used DPoS since beginning 😄

PoW mining was done to bootstrap distribution of the network in a legal way that still offered an advantage to the company that Dan Larimer and Ned founded.
