The magic of jewelery in Florence - La magia del gioiello a Firenze

Today I'm going to tell you about a great experience I had two weeks ago. I went a few days to Florence, a wonderful city in Tuscany, for work reasons and, while I was walking through the different streets of the Tuscan capital, I came across a very particular shop on Via San Niccolò, right near my hotel. This is the workshop of the Master Alessandro Dari which is called "Jewelery Museum".
This shop is one of the most original I have seen in Florence and it tempts anyone to enter for the charm it conveys. In fact, from the street you can hear a sweet and intriguing melody which, combined with the soft lights and the glitter of precious metals, creates a magical atmosphere.

The visit to the shop consists of a short path but full of elements and documents are hung on the walls that tell the story and the training of the artist.
It is from these documents that I discovered most of the information about Alessandro Dari, a Florentine master of goldsmiths and sculptor, but also founder of an artistic movement called Perceptive Dynamism, musician and, to my great surprise, ... Pharmacist! I would like to find out more about the latter aspect, since it is a profession that concerns me closely, but I have not been able to find information online.

The family history of this great Florentine artist dates back to almost 400 years ago, in particular we speak of at least 1630 and it is widely documented that the ancestors were skilled artists of stone, bronze and jewelery.
The trademark of the old Florentine workshop is a Gothic church with initials and Alessandro Dari has been using it for over 35 years, after having come into possession of it from his paternal grandfather.

On his website you can find numerous insights into the work: "The artist blends the physical world and the spiritual world in an alchemy of forms and thoughts, which he constantly experiences and which inspire him in his work. The techniques he uses are based on the Etruscan, Classical, Gothic and Renaissance styles [...] Architecture and anatomy are elements constantly present in all his creations [...] In the workshop of Maestro Dari all the steps in the processing of the jewelery occur. From casting to enamelling, from engraving to stone setting: all steps are taken care of with the utmost passion. All the works are personally supervised by the Master in a very limited edition for the "Historical Collections", while all the others are strictly unique pieces".

In the workshop we have mentioned, there is also the Jewelery Sculpture School, which is the only one in Italy to provide a course in Jewelery Microsculpture. The School is aimed at students and goldsmith professionals but the classes are made up of a maximum of 7 people, in order to ensure that each participant is followed step by step by the Master himself.

This little interlude of the day in Alessandro Dari's shop was truly wonderful and I am happy to have been able to get to know this complete artist.

Right now Florence, all of Tuscany and Italy in general, are facing a very difficult moment due to the Coronavirus pandemic and I hope that activities such as this artist's goldsmith shop will be able to overcome the harsh period of restrictions and the economic crisis. It is precisely artistic activities like the one I mentioned today that make me realize how wonderful, varied and full of potential Italy is.

I can't wait to be able to come back soon to travel freely and discover the beauties of my country... But in the meantime I put my mask back on and go home!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati sul mio Blog.

Oggi vi racconto di una bella esperienza che ho avuto due settimane fa. Mi sono recata qualche giorno a Firenze, meravigliosa città della Toscana, per motivi di lavoro e, mentre stavo passeggiando tra le diverse stradine del capoluogo toscano, mi sono imbattuta in un negozio molto particolare sulla via San Niccolò, proprio vicino a dove si trovava il mio hotel. Si tratta della bottega del maestro Alessandro Dari che reca l’insegna “Museo del gioiello”. Questo negozio è uno dei più originali che io abbia visto a Firenze e invoglia chiunque a entrare per il fascino che trasmette. Infatti, sin dalla strada si sente una melodia soave e intrigante che, unita alle luci soffuse e al luccicare dei metalli preziosi, crea proprio un’atmosfera magica.

La visita del negozio è costituita da un percorso breve ma ricco di elementi e alle pareti sono appesi dei documenti che raccontano la storia e la formazione dell’artista.
È proprio da questi documenti che ho scoperto la maggior parte delle informazioni su Alessandro Dari, maestro fiorentino di arti orafe e scultore, ma anche fondatore di un movimento artistico che si chiama Dinamismo Percettivo, musicista e, con mia grande sorpresa, … Farmacista! Mi piacerebbe scoprire di più su quest’ultimo aspetto, dato che è una professione che mi riguarda da vicino, ma non sono riuscita a trovare informazioni online.

La storia familiare di questo grande artista fiorentino risale a quasi 400 anni fa, in modo particolare si parla almeno del 1630 ed è ampiamente documentato come gli avi fossero degli abili artisti di pietra, bronzo e gioiello.
Il marchio dell’antica bottega fiorentina è una chiesa gotica con le iniziali e Alessandro Dari lo usa da oltre 35 anni, dopo esserne venuto in possesso dal nonno paterno.

Sul suo sito è possibile trovare numerosi approfondimenti sul lavoro: “L’artista fonde il mondo fisico e il mondo spirituale in un’alchimia di forme e di pensiero, che egli vive costantemente e che lo ispirano nell’opera. Le tecniche che utilizza si rifanno allo stile Etrusco, Classico, Gotico e Rinascimentale […] L’architettura e l’anatomia sono elementi costantemente presenti in tutte le sue creazioni […] Nella bottega del Maestro Dari si effettuano tutti i passaggi della lavorazione dei gioielli. Dalla fusione alla smaltatura, dall’incisione all’incastonatura delle pietre: tutte le fasi vengono curate con la massima passione. Tutti i lavori sono personalmente seguiti dal Maestro in tiratura limitatissima per le “Collezioni Storiche”, mentre tutti gli altri sono rigorosamente pezzi unici”.

Nella bottega di cui abbiamo parlato si trova anche la Scuola di Scultura del Gioiello, la quale è l’unica in Italia a fornire un corso di Microscultura del gioiello. La Scuola è rivolta a studenti e professionisti orafi ma le classi sono formate da massimo 7 persone, in modo da assicurare a ciascun partecipante di essere seguito passo passo dal Maestro stesso.

Questa piccola parentesi di giornata nel negozio di Alessandro Dari è stata davvero meravigliosa e sono contenta di aver potuto conoscere questo artista a tutto tondo.

In questo momento Firenze, tutta la Toscana e l’Italia in generale, stanno affrontando un momento molto difficile per colpa della pandemia da Coronavirus e spero che attività come la bottega orafa di questo artista riescano a superare il duro periodo di restrizioni e la crisi economica. Sono proprio le attività artistiche come quella di cui ho raccontato oggi che mi fanno capire quanto meravigliosa, variegata e piena di potenziale sia l’Italia.

In attesa di poter tornare presto a viaggiare liberamente e scoprire le bellezze del mio Paese… Mi rimetto la mascherina e torno a casa!
