and what is it with you men and chainsaws!? I've noticed so many times that almost everyone who uses a chainsaw before sawing first at least two times to accelerate without cutting, but it does not need ;-)
Useless as this looks, most might do so just out of habit but it can have a meaning too. Non electric chainsaws have a 2 stroke engine which tends to flood so giving it some gas kinda clears it up. It also gives you an idea about how the chainsaw revs so you know how you're gonna work it. Most of the times though it's a pointless vroom vroom just because they like the vroom vroom :) People warming up their cars ant motorbikes pisses me off more. And that's more pointless.

The woodworkers near me in Bavaria never did it. But they also had very proffessional machines.
For serious logging you gotta have top equipment. There's no space for compromise. Woodworkers know how to be efficient and are obliged to hence no vroom vroom :)
