Day plans got changed - my wife helped her son tidy up after his flood event. I got home stuff ready to drive down south for a few days off - a dsy early
Took the freeway route to avoid the city roadworks and holiday traffic. It was a good choice. Photo from the Partridge rest area - coffee and fruit stop
View back to Hoxton Park around where my wife's father lives - he is north of the highway - left of the photo
Each visit is a chance to bring more stuff down. This bird bath comes from an artist now living down Bermagui way. Impressed myself by installing it on day one
Rode down to the river mouth hoping to see signs of the river opening out to the sea - first view backwards to Coolangatta Mountain
Sunset photo down river to Flathead Corner - some fish acion seen there
Walked down to the beach - long view south to Point Perpendicular - no sign of the river being open here
Walked a segment along the littoral forest
Fishing action on Seven Mile Beach. The fishermen are standing on the sand dune that separates river from the sea
River mouth has closed again - that said water is higher than I expected
Time to walk back - river not open
Trying out a few photos with manual settings of the sun settling over the mountain - reflections
Contrasts of light
Fire
Mangroves
And this weird triangle on the head of the cormorant. I dreamed about drill bits that shape.
The clue came from the video I made. The bird is a cormorant. Its body is mostly below the water line. It has a long neck. The triangle shape - holding a fish which it is about to swallow - all in the video.
Good to be out on the bike - a day earlier than the plan.
