Shoalhaven River Mouth ride : April 17 2024

in Actifit14 days ago

Wake to a grey day. Forecast is for rain late morning. Morning got a bit busy to go out early as planned to walk the middle section of Seven Mile Beach NP. Walked the dog - our friend's. Did the prep for dinner with my son tomorrow - a 24 hour sous vide job on beef short ribs. Photos tomorrow.

Got on the bike - looked at the sky - the rain was on the mountains. So I rode down to the river mouth to walk there. Quite a few banksia flowers open

Tide was really low - the island is no longer an island. View back to Coolangatta Mountain

Walked to the beach. Fisherman I met said the water was too chopped up for good fishing. Looking north to Gerroa

Looking south all the way to Point Perpendicular

Open sand flats all the way to the island

View back to the village and the pub. River is way back there. Only wvernopen to the sea in heavy weather

The footprints of the little terns that summer here - gazillions of impressions and only a few birds

With water so low the sand close to the water was firm for walking - note the mangroves poking their heads up

Zoomed in photo of black oystercatcher - an endangered species in Australia

Walked around to far side of the river and view back over the water to the mountain

View back to the sea

A few flowers on the river bank

Walked right up to the river wide point - two views of the mountain

One with the pub

And one back to where our place is. Walked back to the island

This is where the little terns are hanging out - close to the water

Zoomed in. When we.move down here full-time, I will start to bring the big camera down. Lots to explore from afar.

Good to get out on a rain forecast day and stay dry

Trade action: Bought a bunch of ASX listed #uranium stocks - DYL.AX, BOE.AX, BMN.AX, PDN.AX. Plus some more in Canada - AAZ.V, FUU.V. Assigned on JAZZ.

Dinner action: Pasta with prawns and spicy sausage
