From Surry Hills to Shoalhaven Heads : January 18 2025

Got late news of the weekend plan. Drive south to our Shoalhaven Heads house to pick up my old fridge - my wife's son moving into his own place. Make a stop on the way to pick up some veges from a friend who is going into hospital this week

Street is in Surry Hills - an inner city hip joint - with quite a few old houses - view down the street

A windy drive down south. Weather had been really stormy a few days. Every beach we passed was smashed with choppy waves

Was nice to get to our place - the wind was down and there bits of blue up above

The grass was happy. It had grown 2 feet in just under two weeks. I did do a weed and feed watering just before we left. Good news is grass is a great weed killer

Photo up the side of the house. The grass we want is pushing its way up to the back fence. Tomorrow I will do the weedkiller onto the right side

Strimming done - do not normally have to rake up the cut grass - filled a box. The good news is the fertilising two weeks ago has given the grass the upper hand

This bed is the length of the house - English country garden feel

From the other side. Go back to the photos of our lawn - the one with the box in it. The plan is to plant a garden on the section between the concrete edging and the house

Got out on the bike hoping to do beach and river loop. Beach photos - wind has blown heaps of sand over the dunes- wiping out the seating

Looking north up Seven Mile Beach toward Gerroa

Looking south and a looming squall running up from the south. Headed home - got a little wet but escaped the coastal drenching

First ride in a while - too bad it was cut short

Plan had been to do fish and chips for dinner or go to the club. Landed up doing a mini tapas dinner from stuff in the freezer. No queues and no need to people and all paid for already

Was a good choice - no need to people - and a chance to savour cooking in silence other than the sound of the ocean in the distance.

We watched Arnie movies until late
