in this edition of the nightwalker series, this nightwalker walked the streets of tokyo with some bit of hesitation.
first, it was very cold.
second, it was a 13th friday, a doomed day in some culture.
and lastly, it was very cold.
this nightwalker wanted to stay at home under a warm blanket.
but the pokemons were incessantly calling my attention and my feet urged me to go.
who am i to deny them, i had to comply.
and that brought me here in yanaka ginza, an old yet with a modern twist shopping street.
as i was walking i was also constantly thinking of things to capture, not pokemon wise but photo wise.
in this nightwalk i would like to have a theme.
i think that would make this walk even more interesting.
and then i saw this christmas tree by the window.
and then it hit me, DECORATIONS!
DECORATIONS was the perfect theme, christmas is just around the corner so i'm pretty sure there will be lots of decors outside.
perfect as i remembered that @friendlymoose pobphotocontest's theme for the week was also having decorations as theme.
so here i am walking this street section near nezu station having these colorful lights lining the streets, simple but sweet.
then passed by these stars and fairy lights combo near the window of this piblic building.
honestly, this was one of my choices for the contest, there was just something dreamy about those lights.
but then, it was a pretty common sight.
the building it was attached also had lights in the normal shape of a christmas tree on top the main entrance.
there must be something more along this path, i thought.
then came this lone christmas tree near the intersection.
this is still considered as decorations, isn't it?
if only i have captured a better image, or had a better concept on how to capture this tree.
further the way was this newly opened restaurant.
those flowers are docorations, too.
and those lanterns are also considered decorations, right?
my options at this point have multiplied, but i clearly do not know which to submit.
in front of the pond near ueno, these architecture caught my eye.
yes, don't worry, i know that these are not decorations.
they may be pretty but these are part of the building itself.
decorations in my definition is something easily removable which is attached to beautify a thing or place.
these structures although meant to beautify, removing these would mean that part of the building will be destroyed.
those lights and that circular peep hole is really something, but not what i am looking for.
now ueno park hosted a christmas market apparently, and of course it wouldn't be complete without a christmas tree.
by this point i realized that a tree's height is very dependent on how prestigeous or huge an event was, this one clearly had a very tall tree.
right next to the park, the restaurant complex was also hosting it's 10th anniversary.
the decorations were not only grander but the details were the best in what i have seen so far.
a decor's detail is again linked to how prestigeous an event is.
i could have submitted any of these photos, but my heart was not in it.
by this point, my head and heart are arguing.
at the end, my heart won.
this photo above is the decoration of my local neighborhood.
these snowflakes are not new to my eyes nor are they as grand as the decors before, yet i feel it would be best to submit it as my entry for the contest.
sometimes, love, admiration, or simply an emotional connection makes your eyes blind, and that is perfectly fine with me.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

A nice gold walk in the night. So many lively decorations but the streets looked rather thin of crowds. Perhaps it’s too cold to come out for celebration.
only the area with the big christmas tree gets crowded at times. the areas before that are pretty chill neighborhoods. it is not always the case with major stations though.
Very nice decorations, my friend!!😊
A good reason to get out on a cold night for a night walk !🤗
true. but this is only skin deep though. most japanese don't really know the essence of christmas
That's a shame my friend......
I hope you have a very wonderful Christmas, will you get to go home, or are you staying in Japan for the holiday?
this time i'll just be here. it will be a cold christmas for me
Stay warm my friend, merry Christmas!!😀
Very nice to see how your city is during Christmas
i guess there will be more.
