Sometimes, when you need to be part of a charity work getting bulk items, the normal grocers will slaughter the wallets before getting anything decent.
This is the best way to maximise what we have accumulated together to get the most of it.
And that's where an extra mile of effort to get the best price is needed.
This is particularly important for this food pack, lentils as where I am, we do not produce lentils due to the unsuitable weather, hence imports are needed.
Often times a 5kg can come up to almost $10 USD, especially during festive celebrations alike Eid or Diwali, and the first 2 families we got for Hope In A Box Christmas round up organised by @dbfoodbank we were slaughtered with local prices and it was doubled!
But thanks be to God the moment Diwali is over, each pack cost us around $4 USD, and the cheapest we could get was from Ukraine.
Instead of supporting arms, I'd personally would rather support the agricultural exports because this doesn't fuel bloodshed.
But I digress
So after a few rounds and locations of treasure hunting, yes, including Vit C for the kids for underprivileged families, especially recent rampant spread of influenza B (I think I caught it too with the crazy hot-cold-hot-cold weather), finally the task succeeded!
The families will get (based on package sets) around 12 items that could round up to $63 USD per aid pack for Christmas, and we hope that at lease this will really help them survive for at least 3 weeks.
Spiced lentils soup is actually quite nice, and lentils rice gives both carbs and protein with some fibre is a good fuel for hard-working families. Filling the stomach with something more decent than can food or processed chemicals.
My whole boot was so filled up I think Bezzy had to work extra hard to deliver to the pick-up points. 😅
But it was still worth it.
Until Then
Stay healthy, stay curious and learn new things, and stay happy!

wow very good. this reminds me of that charity treasure hunt I did. they call it a piece of hope they do every year and the wife of the person that owns the pavilions helps organize it :3.
Oh nice! Hope they are doing again. There are a lot of struggling families at the moment.
o.o maybe. they seem to do yearly. you teach them how to use hive la haha empower them
That's a great work for the underprivileged family, you are doing awesome, the vitamin C will surely get the children's excited, greetings to you ❤️
Thanks so much for the encouragement! This time, they are doing something different by providing supplements. We got a little more of the quantity for each family because there was a discount, which allowed us to get more for the same price.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
You are welcome
Awesome activity @littlenewthings wishing you much success with helping families the way you are have a blessed and wonderful week.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Yeah, we still have a lot to go. There's 500 families in need, and they still short of 200 families to help. And one family needs around at least $57 (cheapest pack for smaller families) to help them go through a month in December, especially when Monsoon hits and many of these people live by day wage. If there's storm and no work, they have no wage for the day.

That's true, normal grocers can be quite expensive when it comes to bulk items for charity.
It's important to make the most out of what we have gathered, and putting in the extra effort to find the best prices is definitely worth it.
